I was searching for ways to give disadvantage to saving throws for Charisma and multiple times, Contagion came up, with people saying that it worked on Charisma saving throws. But when I took a look at the spell it didn't look like any of the curses did that. So, was I looking at an outdated source for the spell or does it really not work?
It could work, but its not easy. The target has to first fail three con saves (before they succeed on three con saves, so kind of a best out of five situation). If they do, one of the options you can choose is Flesh Rot
"Flesh Rot. The creature's flesh decays. The creature has disadvantage on Charisma checks and vulnerability to all damage."
Interesting that charisma saves is the only type that can't be reduced by contagion. Bestow Curse works, but there aren't a lot of creatures with good charisma saves and bad wisdom saves.

Yeah, I have been looking for something for my warlock so that when she casts plane shift on an enemy, it would almost definitely work. As she has DC 20, making the creature have disadvantage would greatly lower the chance of something, even just with luck, succeeding her DC.
You can Polymorph them into something with a Charisma of less than 10, such as a Frog.
Oh yeah! I think that would work pretty well. The only problem is that its not on the warlock spell list, and you never know the parties classes when you are playing AL.
Also side note to anyone who uses plane shift offensively. If there is a creature that can just plane shift back to your plane, send it to Barovia.

Sculptor of Flesh invocation, though that's kind of bad.
I already have a +3 Rod of the Pact Keeper, but warlocks for some reason don't get bane. And because it's AL, no UA. Though I do plan on purchasing a few bane spell scrolls for other party members to use.

Yeah, currently I am a melee warlock that uses spells to end combat on the first round of the boss, and melee warlocks have some extremely needed invocations, like lifedrinker, thirsting blade, and eldritch smite. So yeah it will be a bit until I have a free invocation slot.

If you have room for another invocation you can get Thief of Five Fates to get access to Bane.

I sing to life and to its tragic beauty To pain and to strife, but all that dances through me The rise and the fall, I've lived through it all!

As I said before, I do not have an extra invocation slot, and if I did I would probably either do polymorph or bestow curse because thats a different save than plane shift so more likely to fail if the creature specializes in Charisma Saves.

Bear in mind that legendary resistance is a thing, and plane shifting a boss also plane shifts the stuff they're carrying.

Thanks, I mainly want to do it so that when I can use it, it just ends the combat.

Nope, that's just checks, not saves.

Ahh, crap. I read it too quickly.

See if you can get your hands on a Rod of the Pact Keeper, hit them with Bane, and if your DM allows UA spells [Tooltip Not Found]
