l just noticed this cantrip, and had some questions.
1: Could l throw all 3 pebbles at once, like a shotgun?
2: If l loaded them into a slingshot, would they replace the slingshots damage, or add to it?
for reference, here is what the spell says. (its a bonus action, so you could cast and fire on the same turn, right?)
You touch one to three pebbles and imbue them with magic. You or someone else can make a ranged spell attack with one of the pebbles by throwing it or hurling it with a sling. If thrown, it has a range of 60 feet. If someone else attacks with the pebble, that attacker adds your spellcasting ability modifier, not the attacker’s, to the attack roll. On a hit, the target takes bludgeoning damage equal to 1d6 + your spellcasting ability modifier. Hit or miss, the spell then ends on the stone.
(I think l know the answers to my questions, but l want other peoples opinions)
You can have other creatures throw them for you. Decent way to provide some magic based damage if you need it. I made a “rebel leader” build that revolves around a warlock using this spell, mask of many faces, the actor feat, and inspiring leader to incite uprising from the common fold where they deemed necessary.
Took the form of a new leader, inspired the peasants for extra temp HP, rallied peasants to attack with magical Stones, and if crap hit the fan, turned into someone else and got out of dodge.
1) No, you cannot have a free quickened/twinned spell (except better). This is like, "if I wear two crown of rays on my head, can I fire off scorching beams twice?", or, "Can I throw three javelins +1 if I hold them in one hand?"
As far as how it officially rules, it is that throwing/launching a single pebble counts as a ranged spell attack, and you obviously cannot make more than one of those without the ability to do so.
2) Replace it.
Something that hasn't been brought up is what that 60-foot range tag means. Personally, I think that the intention is that the rock be ruled as a 60-feet range throwing weapon akin to axes or daggers-- i.e. 20/60. In this way, it does not supplant the sling's properties as a 120 feet ranged weapon (30/120) as it would if you allowed the rock to have its attack be optimally 60 feet tossed versus the sling's optimal of 30 feet.

Only need 3 peasants, since a recasting cancels any previous casting.

1. No, the description says you make the attack with one of the pebbles. Spells only allow you to do what they say they do
2. It replaces the damage, for the same reasons above.
Right, thats what l thought, just wanted to be sure.

1. No
2. Replace
(Yes)

2 if you want to throw one yourself.
