If an enemy spellcaster successfully casts Dominate person on the party's 11th level fighter
while using the no action to "specify a simple and general course of action", does the dominated fighter attack once or three times using the Attack action? Can the spellcaster tell the dominated fighter to use Power Attack?
while using an action to "take total and precise control of the target", does the dominated fighter attack once or three times using the Attack action? Can the spellcaster tell the dominated fighter to use Power Attack?
Ultimately this is going to fall under a DM ruling situation (I’m sure if there’s a rule someone will correct me).
Personally, I’d go with no action being one attack, and maybe a move, but a full caster action letting them make the fighter do everything the character can do. This kind of feels more in line with classes who have minions (animal companions or undead they created). Also it just seems like telling them to swing their sword is one thing, but telling them to activate a feat and swing three times would take a lot more effort.
I could see it going that way. I was leaning to 3 attacks with no action, but require action to invoke feat. My thinking is a fighter would instinctively attack max times, but not Power Attack, which requires decision making to invoke.
I would say that dominate person would have the fighter use extra attack when following the "attack that creature" free order, as the charmed creature "does its best to obey" and 1 out of 3 possible attacks is not its best.

"Power attack"?
