The monks of the Way of the Life Wind found their origins in their first master, Sage Zeffo, an acolyte who left the Way of the Four Elements to form his own separate order, focusing specifically on the use of air which he called the Life Wind. Through extensive meditations and training, Zeffo was said to be able to harness the air through breathing to empower his limbs with ki to pull off amazing feats in combat and acrobatics. The Sage also advocated using the Life Wind in a manner of defense for one's self, unleashing it against those who would seek to harm innocents and through further meditation gain greater understanding of the Life Wind. Zeffo established his order within the peaks of the Howling Mountains, whose winds always seemed to give off an unearthly shriek but believe that the Life Wind was strongest there and best to help in meditations. Students came to Zeffo and in time the Way of the Life Wind gained many acolytes upon Zeffo's death, and a new Sage was chosen as the head of the order. Over the centuries the monks grew to be protectors of the regions surrounding the Howling Mountains and well-loved by the folk there. Some monks would receive official recognition as an order, although others such as the Way of the Four Elements have a cordial yet rocky relationship with what they consider to be a rogue and heretical offshoot of their own order. In time the Sage title was passed down to various masters of the order who formed the Sages Council which was headed by one Grandmaster Sage, the leader of the entire group.
