I’m a DM that’s running a home brew campaign with six 5th level (currently) characters. I’ve just introduced the Champion’s Tournament, which is basically an MMA battle round robin for the country the characters are currently residing in. There are 1v1 battles with brackets for either Melee or Spellcasters, as well as team battles with mixed groups.
This tournament will takes months of game time with many, many rounds of combat. That’s where you come in!
Firstly.. will you share your DDB characters with me? I need NPCs between 4th and 8th level to fill in the ranks of the NPC combatants
Secondly.. if you’re interested in RPing in a one shot now and then and RP your characters.. that’d be awesome too!
If you’re willing to share you character, please share your DDB link either here in the comments or PM me directly. Include your favorite combo attacks or features and how you like to play the character I don’t need a full backstory.. just a few sentences would do. If you’d like RP a one shot now and then, include your Discord nickname and I’ll reach out to you
Thanks In advance and look forward to reading about all of your characters!
Here’s my character Varen. His main thing is that he’s really fast, with 50ft walking speed, 100 with his boots of speed (if you’re allowing magic items), and 200 when he uses dash. He’s a bit cocky, and likes to dart behind his enemies and sneak attack them before they notice him. I gave him a pretty good dex score when I made him to simulate quickly dodging attacks. He also has a special move where he runs at the enemy, bashes into them, and keeps running into them over and over, sometimes using his daggers to deal more damage. I mainly used unarmed strikes for these, but if you have something you think is better, that’s cool. Is there’s anything else you need just tell me.
My dnd beyond character creator doesn't really work for whatever reason so ill give the backstory and whatever (p.s he's heavily "inspired" by "let me solo her"(appearance, fighting style, etc.)
General info: Samuel Otny (derived from "samotny" meaning lonely in polish) Lvl: 8, V human
Fighter(3(champion, two weapon fighting style)) monk(4(kensei)) barbarian(1) multiclass
Feats: dual wielder, athlete (used 8th lvl for stat increase(str +1, dex +1))
Skill proficiencies: athletics, intimidation, investigation, and survival.
Weaponry:
2 longsword, 15 javelins, 1 greatsword(adamantine if you allow magic weapons), silver short sword, sling(50 sling bullets)
Appearance: he is a heavily muscular 6ft tall man with a metal vase/pot covering his entire head, who only wears a loincloth and underwear.
Backstory: when he was young a certain person/monster (*cough Melania *cough) killed every person he knows and loved directly in front of him, but spared him for some reason, he was so terrified he couldn't move he was unbelievably weak. ever since that, he has blamed himself for being weak and has vowed to never let that happen again, then he extensively trained at the detriment to his social life and mental/physical health, so that one day he can track down and kill the monster that massacred his family and friends. until that day, however, he shall train endlessly.
Common behavior:
in his free time, he works out for hours/ shadow spars(usually full-body calisthenics and cardio, and "Baki hanma" style shadow sparring), meditates, and prays for forgiveness to his loved ones for being weak(usually multiple times a day). because of years of not talking to anyone his social skills are about that of a 6-year-old.
(If you plan on using him) How you could introduce him or whatever:
If there is a waiting area for the fighters he could be sitting silently(in a meditation pose or something) in a corner surrounded by an arsenal of weaponry
I don't use DDB to create characters but I have some cool characters I've made
Red Hot Chili Pepper: Chili Pepper is a teenage fire genasi wizard, he's a genius but also suffers from anger issues and has a napoleon complex (he's very short)
Discord Nightshade: my current pc is a hexblood wild magic sorcerer who primarily uses trickery and enchantment magic
Jirou Pending: a very old character of mine, a half elf hexblade warlock who is a cripple
Cleetus: a lizardfolk druid who is a Cajun hillbilly, his favorite wildshape is a "gahtuh"
I don't have their stats rn but I hope these character concepts are interesting enough to build upon

Idk if you still need characters or not, but this is a character I never got to play, but have been holding onto for an NPC for a hopefully-maybe-someday I get the chance/am comfortable with being a DM. Her name is Arcadia Fletch, she's a Barbarian Firbolg.
ddb.ac/characters/53918678/LPl5pl
idk if that link will work, but hopefully since its the one that ddb provided. Anyway, the dm I worked with allowed players to pick one feat to start their character with provided that it could mesh with the backstory given, and you could pick more feats if you took -2 to an ability score you rolled. So, that's why she's got three at level five.
Arcadia was raised by a band of roving goliaths which is why she's not as gentle as people expect firbolgs to be. They way I'd meant to play her (never got the chance mind you) is that she isn't a stand there and take it barbarian. She runs in, gets her hits, and runs out. Due to her totem and having the mobile feat she can make two attacks and then use her bonus action to get out of range, provided she hadn't used all her movement to get to her target. Then if someone follows her and gets in her range, she hits them again (pole master feat).
Sword's Song was, to her living memory, another nameless urchin on the streets of some desert city, performing for food and fare, until she was taken in by her eventual adoptive parents, the ringmaster of the Winds of Wanderlust Travelling Carnivale and his goodwife. Raised and appraised of her talent for the performing arts, a natural dancer, tumbler and acrobat, she became a mainstay of the carnival on her seventeenth as their premier dervish, earning her name thanks to the singing steel of her dancing scimitars. Lately, though, the carnival has fallen on hard times, sacked by a goblinoid tribe. Not yet strong enough to simply hunt the bandit clan herself, Soso has resolved to travel abroad as an adventurer, gathering experience, new talent and accruing income and fame, until she can return and revive her family's livelihood.
The tournament would make for a great place for Sword's Song to garner attention and possible allies. Her fighting style is that of a sword dancer; rarely is she static in motion, mercurial and acrobatic in her movements, able to dance around her foe whilst her scimitar flit out in wheeling, disorienting spins and flourishes. When forced to fight from a distance, she'll unload her crossbow first, use her longbow as a fallback, and if possible, tug her foe down from their safe position with her Telekinetic shove. If a foe gets more than one hit on her in a round, or a critical hit, she'll use her Evasive Footwork to protect herself. If they critical fail, she'll Riposte to counter them. If she critical hits, she'll use Tripping Attack and capitalize on the opening. She'll wait to use her Action Surge until she's below half health, wanting the performance to hit a crescendo, and if the foe still stands, she'll gain her Second Wind before moving in for the finale.
Her Dual Wielder feat was chosen as a sensible indication of her prowess as a Dervish, while her Telekinetic feat should be flavored as less 'psychic' ability, and more a progression of her powers as an Air Genasi to manipulate the wind. If she's taken to 8th level, either her Charisma or Dexterity could be taken to 20. Conversely, she could take the Prodigy feat for expertise in Acrobatics or Performance (Perception or Survival proficiency; Tailor's tool proficiency; Elvish, Sylvan or Giant for her parents' native tongues), the Mobile feat to fit her mercurial sword dancing style, or even the Defensive Duelist feat to make her sword dancing even more difficult to get past.

Working on a supplement for the adventure-minded. A project including (and crediting) homebrew subclasses from the community, a world of my own design, premade characters, magic items, and even a prologue adventure to start things off!
Past and Current Characters: Morgann 'Duskspear' Solbeard, Hill Dwarf Paladin/Fighter/Warlock; Ephemeral 'Skye' Solbeard, Hill Dwarf Artificer; Zaldrick Lawscrip of Orzhov, Hobgoblin Wizard; Eremys Spydrun, Shadar'kai Monk; Cuchulainn, Wood Elf Blood Hunter.
I made over 100 NPCs for an arena based battle royale campaign, but they're all evenly matched to 2nd level PCs. I suggest you do the same thing as I did to help me create them. Use the Quick Matchups table from XGE to convert player level to CR, then filter the list of humanoids accordingly. If you want to be lazy, you can just use them as they are. But if you want to do the extra step like me, give them a random race and apply racial traits to them. I personally used the NPC Stat Blocks from the DMG. They lack races that were added later, so you might have to create your own templates for them. Make sure to adjust the CR acordingly. It's best to use a CR calculator. I also determined racial percentages (e.g., humans are much more common than troglodytes) and limited myself to X number of any specific race. As for personality, you can base it on the race and the description of the monster. For example, I made a zombie pirate looking to reverse an undead curse in a similar fashion to Pirates of the Caribbean. You really don't need to write a complex backstory, just one to three sentences is enough.

Basically, he was a warrior in his past life, and after death, has sacrificed many things to cling onto the physical plane.
He wields a scythe, which is basically a greataxe but it inflicts poisoning and allows the user to use a home brew spell, shadow shock, which is linked below.
His fighting style leans more towards the cautious side, yet he is willing to get dirty with it. His first moves are always activating the shield and moving away from the enemy. After that, feel free to do whatever. For an introduction if there needs to be one in some gathering room, I believe that lurking in a corner, creepily staring at the party would fit Frinos well.
Note: his very low weight is not a typo

Well, here's my throw-in for an NPC. Meet Sword's Song, or Soso to her friends and family, an Air Genasi Fighter and Entertainer.
