Take a look at the Yawning Portal from Waterdeep if ever there was an epic tavern that is probably it. You don’t need the access to undermountain but you probably do need a gimmick of some sort that brings in a wide range of clientele including tier 4 and 5 characters that are actually left alone by everyone else. Maybe it’s a small place on the outside but much larger inside. Maybe it has its own Mythal like protections or entrances to other worlds, maybe all of these.
The tavern has an enchantment whereupon your entrance all tavern patrons inside know your name, also upon entrance everyone is mutually affected by friends. Regardless of whether you've accepted the post Tasha's ability modifiers universalizing, when inside everyone's stats are determined by standard array with a +2/+1 option. The magic's not surreptitious, you can hear the chant as you approach the place,
I was thinking of a tavern with a hearth that everyone could see. Along one side the floor would be a foot higher for halflings, dwarves and other vertically challenged races. The tavern would have servers that could flavor your ale to match anything they had tasted before using prestidigitation, so they had an extensive list of ales and wines. You would be protected from others listening in on your conversation at your table. There would be ample shelves for visitors to unburden themselves of their gear, but the gear would be quite safe. Mind control type spells are forbidden, including charm person all the way up. Bards performed regularly but a table of patrons had the magical means to just turn off the sound at their table. The serving girls were unusually attractive, and equally adept at judo. I'm just trying to come up with a really cool vibe.

I am doing a bit of worldbuilding and I have a Bard that is retired with an epic tavern and a more regular tavern elsewhere in the city.
What makes a tavern epic in your mind? I want to describe the tavern to other players.
Thanks for your help.

Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to be where you can see
Our troubles are all the same
You want to be where everybody knows your name
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
You want to go where people know
People are all the same
You want to go where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
And they're always glad you came
Where everybody knows your name
