Hello! For a session tonight I came up with a short prayer to Moradin to include in a casting of Motivational Speech. The other players loved it and it got me curious of prayers other players might have thought of that they would be willing to share, be it to Moradin or a different deity. I feel having a couple ideas for prayers would be cool for RPing when casting certain spells or divine intervention.
Mine went along the lines of:
"By the grace of Moradin, may our next deeds be blessed. May he temper our minds and souls to be like the iron of his anvil, cool and unbreakable. May our wits be sharpened like the blades from his forge, our tongues as smooth as leather which wraps them. May he grant us courage that burns like a forge in our hearts, and the wits to know when those flames burn too hot. By his anvil, and his hammer, let us be blessed." - Gilthur Rumnaheim, Dwarven Cleric of Moradin, Forge Domain.
As mostly a DM, I don't have a specific one. But I do weave in reflections of the most predominant faiths in different areas by having NPC's use deities in dialoge. E.g. right now the group is in Athkatla in Amn where Waukeen, is the prominent goddess that most traders will focus on. So most interactions begin or end with a "Waukeen's blessings upon you" or a "May the Lady of Coin smile upon you".
In other areas I will vary these to reflect other followers (e.g. often Lathander in mor rural communities, but also pockets of other faiths etc.)

Tell me what you you are trying to achieve - we're telling this story together ....at least I thought we were - Now I am not so sure [OGL 1.1]
One of my characters is a lay priest of Kelemvor, and she had a habit of prayers at night, and over humanoids that she was in combat with. I would vary parts of it to be specific to cultures where I could. The 'littany' is this:
No one should be alone, in life or death, Death is part of life, not an ending but a beginning Death is without deceit and has meaning, I will strive to help those to live, So, they can die at their appointed time, I will honor those who have died before me, For it is their lives and deeds that give us the world today, Bless me to live until my appointed time, So, my deeds will live forever, So be the will of my Lord, and my desire in faith May Death grant us peace.
I played a monk/cleric that prayed to Illmater. when I really went into the concept of "Endurance" as a deific trait I came up with some basic mantras and ways to sign off that all dealt with weathering the trails ahead.
things like "I must endure, we must endure" would play in my head when getting into RP and tough times in game.
And then the real prayer came through later. "Illmater, give me the strength to endure what may come, so that I may prove that perseverance is the truest path to a life well lived"
Having things like this really helped wrap my head around where my character was at, and what they may do in the face of adversity.
May the lord put on us the armor of righteousness. May he keep our bow strong and let the arrow that flieth by day fly true. May he strengthen our sword arm that we will be victorious though we be compassed about on every side, yea, even on the left and on the right. May the lord be my shield and buckler that his enemies may not triumph over me.
Lord, as thou hast dealt with Sodom and Gomorah, so be it done today unto our enemies, that thy might may rain down as the lightning from the heavens. Let not their strong men beam in the evening firelight. Let their horses and beasts be scattered and their camps put to confusion. Guide our warriors in battle that our enemies will know the true god and your people will not be chastised.

I used this today to honor a fallen PC. Very nice and it worked well for my character.

That's excellent - really well put together!
