Fistandantilus fell into that category. He was master of past and present and was able to affect and live at both times. Of course, it backfired when he accidently blew himself up in a future self and so tried to take over the body of Raistlin Majore, 200 years later. Raistlin was able to resist him from taking his body while stealing all his magical knowledge. Raistlin then used Fistandantilus's identity to take over the Tower of Sorcery in Palanthas, which gave him access to time a time travel spell, which he then used to go back in time to kill Fistandantilus and take his place.
Time magic is very known, but highly restricted on Krynn. There is even a device of time journeying. Basically, Krynn has 5 ages. Four of them are ideal to set adventures in and there are game devices that allow players to visit them. Its one of the unique aspects of Dragonlance. Unlike most settings, you can actually go back in play during historical events.
The rule is that history will self-correct itself by substitution. For instance, Raistlin Majore discovered he was forced to repeat the exact same steps that would have led to Fistandantilus's death, in order to achieve his goal of challenging Takhisis.
This rule doesn't apply to Kender, and Dwarves that were created by chaos magic. As creations of the Greygem, they do not autocorrect when they change history. This means only Humans, elves, and Ogres can travel to the past without causing harm. Gnomes and Minotaur are a bit iffy on the question due to both races being cursed by the gods, and not chaos born.
Is there any reference to time magic/spells in Krynn?
I wanted to play a Chronurgy Wizard and I was looking for a precedent for such magic.

Thank you very much Dudeoutlaw. This is a fantastic explanation and it is exactly what I was looking for.
