hello there I have a question for you all how would you dms handle this character idea: mage from candlekeep is on a quest to find all fifty nether scrolls for candlekeep

if i say something inflammatory the intention is not to trigger an emotional response and the fact that it does so is purely accidental and I sincerely apologise if it does
Good reason for a wizard to leave the library. That's really all you need. As a dungeon master I appreciate it because it gives your character a reason to be anywhere in Faerun, and a hook I can easily sink to pull their interest into future events. It's a winner.

Practice, practice, practice • Respect the rules; don't memorize them • Be merciless, not cruel • Don't let the dice run the game for you
It's a little basic. Why does this wizard need the Nether Scrolls? Who do they work for? What connection do they have to Candlekeep? Are they working out of curiosity, good will, or selfishness? Why a wizard in particular?

It's a good start, but like Deadpan said - I'd also want a little more.
What is the end goal with the Nether Scrolls?
What do they want to do with them?
Because you can only use the scroll once... (and it's a High DC)...
And then maybe one or two more...
Fifty of them would, technically be useless to the character, other than to burn them off once their stat hits 25... just to have a Golem, really.
So I'd want to know the purpose this character wants to collect them?
Is someone out to collect them also?
Some evil wizard has pupils who need to be smart to complete some ritual?

in universe they contain the secrets of pretty much all arcane magic and the monks of candlekeep often venture out to gather new books and scrolls for the libraries
