Yes, yes, how dare a company seek to reclaim property belonging to it that was improperly released, and do something other than rigidly adhere to tradition. We get that you don’t like WotC, you don’t need to keep blowing the dog whistle.
We aren’t blowing it for you, or other players. We are blowing it for WotC… on dnd beyond which is technically a separate entity (or at most a sub-company)
So glad they were looking to discuss a lore question and not just use it as a soapbox for another "why WotC are evil" speech.

The original post asked a question about why a change happened. I provided my answer. That you neither liked nor agreed with my position is fine. Indeed, I look forward to your next post, which will no doubt be a thoughtful and informed contribution to a discussion of a changes to a character from the Greyhawk setting and its lore.
My initial reply, incidentally, made only passing reference to the public issues that WoTC are facing. I did this primarily because I am of the mind that you cannot separate these issues from their attitude towards the canon (i.e., story & lore) of the game and a fanbase that is very protective of it.
I was attempting to make the point, in other words, that there are similarities between, (1), the overall approach and attitude of the company towards the game and its fans and, (2), their well-established indifference to the input/feedback from the Greyhawk fanbase over the development of the lore of that setting. If this is not an on-topic response to a post in a "Story & Lore" forum asking about why changes were made to a character from that setting (i.e., Bigby), I'm not sure what is.
My more pointed, detailed and now-deleted response about the former (WoTC's general approach) was elicited by the OP's assertion that my comments were defamatory. I stand behind everything I said, but I also have no issue with the deletion of both posts.
I stumbled across this thread looking for a reason why Bigby is a gnome now and, while I haven’t decided if I like/care about the change, some of y’all need to prise your mouths away from WotC’s boots. The company has a history of treating its freelance writers badly, engaging in corporate megalomania, and mistreating those that have contributed to the game both on an amateur and a professional level. The fact that "rumloverum” compared mentioning this to Godwin’s Law is both farcical and callous.
my narrowly undeleted point was that it seems absurd to callously (insensitive to context and audience) name drop a villainous group of real life violence peddlers and farcically (characterizing dramatically and tenuously) link them to the oversight of a fictional character. more than once. i saw absurdity and called it out. no boots involved.
dm me privately if have a question about my stance on corporations or start a thread if your concerns are more general. otherwise, please leave my name off your keyboard/lips.
bigby's clone is a gnome.

unhappy at the way in which we lost individual purchases for one-off subclasses, magic items, and monsters?
tell them you don't like features disappeared quietly in the night: providefeedback!
45 years of playing this game and I never once gave a pet rodent's hind end about rather Bigby was a human or a dwarf or a gnome or an elf.
Not even when he sent me and a bunch of strangers on a quest against a bunch of giants at gencon, lol. He was an NPC.
I mean, I have legends of characters that are long gone and in some cases they have changed genders or races (never classes, though, I should try that).
Next thing you know someone's going to say that Xanathar is a Beholder and that Elminster is a human.
Sheesh...

I'm just glad I found the answers to my questions despite the added arguments about WotC being sprinkled in by people.
