I remember this one story my dad told me. I think he was playing a rogue in 3.5 and the party was at the entrance of the BBEG's tower. He had 2 immovable rods and he used them to climb the BBEG's tower and skip the entire dungeon the DM planned out. He successfully climbs the tower, and from this point on my memory of the story is pretty fuzzy, but I think after he climbed the tower, he tossed the 2 rods to the bottom of the tower and the rest of the party proceeded to do the same and they all skipped the dungeon straight to the final boss.
I can't even begin to imagine how simultaneously pissed and amused I would be as the DM in that situation. The entire time my dad was telling me this story, I couldn't stop thinking of this gem of a video:
