If warlocks gain their powers making deals with powerful entities, do characters need help in order to get a Eldritch Adept feat during a game? Or can you get the power from other stories.
Either/or. There's no direct printed connection and part of the theme of Warlocks is learning esoteric means to use magic- typically from their patrons. Given the limited nature of the options for a non-Warlock taking the feat, it's fair to just call it someone having discovered/worked out the trick of it.
