I thought of two concepts for a tiefling character.
1. A Glasya Tiefling who was born into a cult and escaped, he grew up as a Thief. He has the Criminal background his mother is a Cambion and he of course has the Thief subclass.
2. A Fierna Tiefling who's mother was a Forlarren that left them to be found by a Thieves Guild. They have the Criminal Background, the Fey Touched Feat and are an Arcane Trickster.
Only you, and to a lesser extent your group, can answer that.
Presumably you don't have a preference, but what characters are your fellow players playing? Do any of them have a cult in their background, or a Thieves' Guild? Do either of them mesh better with the DM's setting?
