im just wandering to backwards before my last story before saving the prisoners of the slavers that took over the city and defeated them with the help of the dragon stormsmoker if people use the new sigil program does it help build a campaign or would i need to make more than one map for it to help?
In its current form (and likely permanent form), it's extremely limited and, in my experience, unusable. I was someone who was very much hoping it would be worked out, but it's looking like that is never going to happen.
My advice would be to work with D&D Beyond's 2D Maps VTT or, better yet, if you're not too invested in D&D Beyond already like I am, look into Roll20 or Foundry.
It’s definitely viable and a lot of campaigns are planned this way. But you need to be careful to maintain flexibility. The players characters will change both in their motivations and personalities. A plan that fits a PC in session 1 won’t necessarily be good for that PC in session 10
