I'm in the planning stages of a new campaign, set in the Feydark. I thought it would be a fun change for the endgame threat be an unstoppable force like the Wild Hunt, and to present the faerie courts as vying to lead it. I come to you, the creative hivemind, for help with some warning signs of how this Hunt might manifest.
Some homebrewed setting context:
Choices from previous campaigns and the death of the god of truth and reason have attracted the primeval force of chaos known as the Dark Hunt, which siphons light and life from whatever it falls upon.
To lead the Hunt is to channel its power. True fey are best suited to this, as they are closest to nature. Any geopolitical power would love to aim it at their enemies, though.
Stirrings of the Dark Hunt are strongest in the Feydark and the Underdark, which are places of surpassing, eerie beauty.
All ideas about how this malevolent force/weapon might be affecting the Material Plane are appreciated, especially environmental ones! Thanks!
Primal Force of Chaos == nature gone weird to me. So things like plagues, animals behaving strangely, storms and unusual weather, invasion of strange weeds like Kudzu,
"siphons light and life" key indicators of that would be stuff like: turning fertile soil into sand, sources of freshwater turning brackish/poisonous or drying up entirely, fruit rotting on the tree, plants withering, perpetual cloud cover, thick fogs/mist.
