Hi! I'm a big eberron fan, and want to add dragonmarks to my homebrew world in a creative way, I am unfortunately not creative enough to do that. If any one has any ideas, it would be appreciated. Thanks! :)
It is unknown why it happens, but some rare individuals are born with marks upon their skin which shimmer with magic. Many but not all of those marked in such a way become powerful or influential people. In the olden times, the great dragons became obsessed with the mystery of these marks, and would kidnap marked individuals for study and experimentation. It was this that gave the marks their name: dragonmarks. Though the marks do no originate with dragons, and there is yet to be any recorded instances of dragons themselves being born with these marks. However, Lord [Insert name here] an exceptional, leader of men - and secretly a dragonmarked individual - raised armies against the great dragons to stop the reign of terror from their constant searches and kidnapping of dragonmarked individuals. After great losses on both sides Lord [Insert name here] was victorious and the remaining dragons retreated to remote roosts, and the Order of the Dragon was founded to train individuals to defend the world of men should the dragons ever return....
... Recently, there has been an increase in dragonmarked individuals born to [Insert name of the world]. Sages argue about the meaning of this change, some claiming it foretells a the end of the world, others that it is the world preparing itself for a return of the greatwyrms, others that it is a result of arcane disruption blamed on [insert name of a wizardry organization], and still others that it is simply an evolution of humanoids.
Just dump them in wholesale, zero explanation. It works just fine. In case anyone asks, the three dragons (can I recall their names?! Khyber, Sibarys, Eberron, is that right) are 'creatures from myth'. The end.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.

Well, what sort of lore have you already established for your world?
Find your own truth, choose your enemies carefully, and never deal with a dragon.
"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Here's some random lore:
