I am looking for a devil that tries to massacre my character's village but then my character gets offered as a sacrifce to the devil and gets turned into a sort of hitman for the devil, having him kill people for him and in exchange for not destroying his village. Thanks
I've always viewed Devils as simply high powered attorneys.

when I do devils/demons for character to do deal with I usually do research. a good reference point (actual religious item) is the lesser book of Solomon. it explains the hierarchy, powers, name, relation, ect of demons/devils. my go to demons are usually the 72 great demons of the ars goetia or well known demons (Satan, Belial, belphegor, mephisto, ect)
The monster manual has plenty of intelligent devils. Devils aren't just lawyers. They are frontline warriors in the Blood War. They are conniving villains trying to ascend the ranks. Ice Devil sounds like it fits your description, although it is CR 14.
