I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for a very long time: The Monk & The Witch: Mercy and Wards, the first book of a free, unofficial Forgotten Realms fan-saga centered on original characters.
A few important notes: this is not a campaign recap, an actual-play transcript, or a session report turned into prose. It is written as a full fantasy novel set in the Forgotten Realms, with a little of the wider D&D multiverse in its bones.
It is completely free and noncommercial. There are no ads, no Patreon, no Kickstarter, no donation request, no paid version, no newsletter, and no monetization of any kind. I am not trying to sell anything.
I made this as seriously as I could, with the care I would give to a full novel series, and I’m sharing it freely with people who love Dungeons & Dragons and the Realms.
Book 1 and 2 are completed and final. Several later books already exist in draft form, and the whole saga has been planned from beginning to end.
Again: this is unofficial fan content, free, noncommercial, and not endorsed by Wizards of the Coast.
If you do read it, please feel free to share your feedback in this thread.

This already sounds way more ambitious than the usual “campaign retelling” fanfic posts honestly. Respect for actually planning the full saga out instead of improvising book to book. The fact that it’s completely free/no monetization also makes it feel much more like a genuine love letter to the Realms rather than self-promo. Definitely adding it to my reading list 👍
Hi everyone,
I wanted to share something I’ve been working on for a very long time: The Monk & The Witch: Mercy and Wards, the first book of a free, unofficial Forgotten Realms fan-saga centered on original characters.
You can read it here: monk-and-witch.pages.dev/en
Book 2, Choosing the Road, has now also been released: monk-and-witch.pages.dev/en/b2

Small update: Book 2 of The Monk & The Witch is now released.
Book 2 — Choosing the Road

Like Book 1, it is completely free and noncommercial.
Feedback is very welcome, especially from people who enjoy Forgotten Realms stories centered on original characters rather than canon protagonists.
