So... my Ranger in icewind dale got kidnapped in a cave that had a spot of pure magical darkness by a white wyrmling and then a black egg with purple swirls on the bottom was frozen to her back. It stole her warmth, gave her the slowed condition, and ate ALL fire. Hot and cold. After the first long rest after, her hands turned black and blue. After that, we tried poking it with a stick. The stick passed through it without anything happening to it. Then we put a rabbit in it and the rabbit died. After the next long rest my character woke up with a feeling like she hadn't breathed in ages, there was a wiggling in her mind, her arms and legs were covered in bite marks, and there was a shadow dragon thing standing on her. Serpentine, about 8-10ft long, eyes of light, and it makes a sound like a bell. The black and blue was gone from her hands and when we got to a temple the priests said there was nothing wrong with her but said that she shouldn't go around town blabbing about it. Oh, and in town the thing was in her shadow, moving on its own, and it had eyes, and it leaned toward the light. I know asking is metagaming, but this whole situation is really starting to upset me. Does anyone know of anything this could be? or is it wholly homebrew? My ranger is going drakewarden and my DM wants to go with a living drake and not a spirit summon, so part of me thinks this is how he's doing it... but i'm not sure. We just hit level 3.
That response feels a bit inconsiderate to you. If it really disturbs you, you should follow up and tell him that it's disturbing to you and is a detriment to your fun. Ask him to go about whatever he's doing in a different way. It's perfectly fine to ask this! Communication is the most important part of a good game of DnD.

He doesn't have much besides the skin on his bones. Me: I'll take the skin on his bones, then.

We talked about it. The shadow is a dragon wyrmling and I can choose that as my drakewarden companion or have the drake and we get a party dragon... He also said it's part of the game, and he meant to talk to me before the session it got stuck to my back, but work got in the way.

Some here have more knowledge than I, but I think it's pure homebrew.
I told him it's kinda upsetting me and all I got was "I'm not trying to kill her. Promise!"

"When are we gonna take a snack break?"
