I'm planning to create a cult in the Forgotten Realms thar worships Mind Flayers, but I don't know if there's any already of it would make sense lorewise.
I don't know of any prominent ones in the lore, likely because Illithids care about humanoid opinions of them about as much as the average person cares what cows think of them. Their MO is aimed at direct psychic domination, so they don't need the artifice of rituals and ceremonies. That said, when they're still in the "covert infiltration" phase, I could see going Lovecraftian with a cult/sect/what have you forming to draw in victims. If you have access to it, Volo's has a section on Illithids that should outline a basic infiltration strategy. Giving it a "culty" vibe probably wouldn't take much.
The info in the book does not mention Cults, but you can create one :)
Cheers!

Breathe, dragons; sing of the First World, forged out of chaos and painted with beauty. Sing of Bahamut, the Platinum, molding the shape of the mountains and rivers; Sing too of Chromatic Tiamat, painting all over the infinite canvas. Partnered, they woke in the darkness; partnered, they labored in acts of creation.

Thank you, guys! I appreciate your answers. I've read Volo's chapter on Illithids and it was amazing. It doesn't talk about any cult, but I'm gonna create one (The Cult of the Deep).
Regarding Baldur's Gate, I know there are several mind flayers in the adventure, but I haven't finished the game yet hahaha. I'm still in... chapter 1?
Thanks for all your help.

JamieVonCarstein,
The_Ace_of_Rogues beat me to it, but here is a link to what they mentioned: Volo's Guide to Monsters & the section on Mind Flayers.

Look up the plot of Baldur's Gate 3.
