The Elves. Why they are the way they are.

I would like to start this out by stating plainly. My Elves are not the Forgotten Realms Elves or even like most worlds Elves.
So the history because when talking about a people.. or sentient species, it's important. 

So the Elves of Auchra(The name of the world of my imagination) didn't look like the graceful pointy eared humans they do today. If you leave that world and explore the worlds beyond you might run across an Elf and not even know it. Because they originally and normally look like football(American) field sized fish with glimmering scales that radiate light and magic with tentacles of light. But, let's focus on the Elves of Auchra. So they are explorers that come from a realm that grows in proportion to the population of sentience, this is important because Elves don't physically age after reaching maturity.

Well they entered Auchra and the humans high mages saw them as invaders, and began attempting to fight them off. Tried to return them to their home plane. It is during this war that human high mages cast the Grande spell that cursed the Elves to look the way they do now, it also destroyed their millienia of memory. The end result was a collapse of the spells they maintained to keep the gates to their original plane open. 

This happened roughly 4,000 years ago.
