I'm a huge music buff, and have been playing around with creating characters based on songs. Here are a few of my favorite ideas so far:
Adam Ant - Stand And Deliver: Definitely a Rogue thief or possibly a Bard with the criminal background. More likely to steal things of beauty than of actual value, and mostly just for the thrill of the chase. Flamboyant, seemingly self absorbed, womanizing... archetypal adventurer.
Blue Oyster Cult - Veteran Of The Psychic Wars: Fighter (Battle Master), or maybe a reluctant Paladin, either with the Noble or Soldier (Officer) background. He's the heir to a throne or the seat of a barony, but he doesn't want anything to do with it because he's seen firsthand, and been part of, the senseless bloodshed caused by his family, but is bound by blood and honor (or maybe just fate) to take the mantle. (Thank you Michael Moorcock for co-writing that song)
Styx - The Grand Illusion: Wizard Illusionist. Entertainer background. He's a huckster and a showman. He's all ego, with a burning need for fame.
PS: yeah, I'm that old.

Welcome to the Grand Illusion, come on in and see what's happening, pay the price, get your ticket for the show....
Holy Diver, the Killswitch Engaged cover: Vengeance Paladin, wanderer of some kind so maybe Outlander Background? Or a Warlock-as-Knight of some kind. https://youtu.be/NR7dG_m3MsI
And then I got tired and my brains stopped working well. Lol 8 hour day of driving and carrying car parts will do that.
I've wanted to play a Valor Bard/ Pact of the Fiend Warlock named Johnny inspired by the song "The Devil Went Down to Georgia" By the Charlie Daniels Band.
One of the many inspirations (most not musical in nature, nor necessarily fantasy related either) for some aspects of my homebrew setting is The Sword. There's so much bad-ass pure rock riffery in their records (my favorites are their 1st, 2nd, and 4th LPs) and some really evocative lyrics as well.
One of my backups right now is a warforged - wizard (necromancer) who wants to transfer his consciousness into a mortal body and become a lich. He’s jealous of mortals and angry at them for not constantly complaining about the pains that come with it.
Inspiration started from 3 Days Grace - I am machine.
One of my characters was a Bard named Ronnie Osborne, who was a follower of Dio, his Hometown was called Kickapoo, where he came from an humble family religious, through and through, until one day he refused to step in line, cause a vision he did see of freaking rocking all the time, he wrote a tasty jam and all the planets did allign...
After leaving his Home he went on a journey to find the Pick of Destiny.

"Normality is but an Illusion, Whats normal to the Spider, is only madness for the Fly"
I'm playing a Half-Orc Barbarian, Path of the Juggernaut subclass, with the Gladiator variation of the Entertainer background. Now, I didn't base the character entirely on this song but it did inspire me in his creation.
He was indebted to the Black Network and spent years as a wage slave for the company's entertainment. Believes in his weapon and body to see him through. Used to be a good kid, now understandably a bit messed up. Loudly professes to serve no god, nor any man (at least yet). Trained by a Tiefling (fiend) senior gladiator. No mercy.
(I know this doesn’t quite fit, lmk and I will tid) I’ve been working on a song to implant inside of my current campaign, it is based on glingar the strong, whom will be my pc, two pc’s down the line. I wanna know who will notice 😃
Resisting is simply standing in front of the tide and pushing at it. Even if you endure at first, you will eventually break down. Adapting, by contrast, is turning into a fish.

Rangers are not underpowered. They’re just exploration-oriented.
Surely, the most obvious of all must be Black Knight by Deep Purple. Arguably, you could also work with Woman From Tokyo, although the character concept is less clear =D
Led Zeppelin have a few: The guy in Gallow's Pole is being hanged, so he's likely a bit of a rogue, and the hangman himself is definitely also a character. Battle of Evermore has the Queen of Light, and the Prince of Peace, and dragons and ring wraiths too.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
A build I've been designing on paper is a College of Dance/Warrior of the Elements Monk that's based on the song "Firecracker" by Cami-Cat.
Basically bard from a village of fire dancers who use a combination of rapid dance movements to dodge attacks and unleashing powerful kicks wrapped in golden flames. The character would be on a journey to find their spark after discovering their inability to conjure their own flame, despite knowing the dances needed to control them.
I was making a character based on the song hell's coming with me by poor man's poison but one thing led to the next and I'm now making an entire campaign based on their songs with the character mentioned above being one of the antagonist.

Eladrin Evocation Wizard/ Clockwork Soul Sorcerer/ Wild Magic Barbarian. That deaf dumb and blind kid sure plays a mean pinball.
Drow Shadowblades are so good! Give them a Google!

Or Marty Robbins "Big Iron" ..."notches on his pistol numbered one and nineteen more"
