In my world, warforged are rare because most of them were created by a hidden civilization of gnomes to protect the people from an attacking army. After the war, the warforged had spread around the world and began to develop sentience.
I started playing DnD about half a year ago, but the character creation has been the most fun. So recently I just started writing down backstory ideas per race and class/subclass (all names are temporary). For Warforged I have the following
Wild Magic Sorcerer - Sorcy There are two Creation Forges left that are still operating in secret. One is deep in the bowels of Sharn, and is operated by Merrix d'Cannith, the grandson of the inventor of the creation forge. He creates Warforged sparingly so as not to raise suspicion. The other is located deep in the Mournland and is controlled by the Lord of Blades. This forge was damaged during the Last War, and produces Warforged with defects. (This is what I got from https://eberron.fandom.com/wiki/Creation_forge, with small edits because I was too lazy to write everything) 1. During a lull in production, Merrix forgot a Warforged (Sorcy) in the creation forge. Sorcy had been left in the Creation Forge for too long and "booted up", but was unresponsive. Thinking Sorcy was defective, Merrix smuggled him out of Sharn and dumped him somewhere. After some time, Sorcy began to move. He was conscious this whole time, but couldn't move, because he had absorbed too much magic during his stay in the forge. This is also the reason why he can't control his magic completely. 2. Same as above but Lord of Blades (if DM prefers one of the two, he can choose) 3. Created in the forge of the Lord of Blades, Sorcy was defective and weak. The Lord of Blades did not see any use for Sorcy and banished him. During his banishment, Sorcy found out he was capable of magic. However, the damaged forge broke an important part of Sorcy which controlled the magic.
Artificer Battle Smith - Barry Created at the tail end of the Last War, and therefore no longer needed for battle, Barry was hired by a very well-off family in a remote village. He was hired as a butler-like person, and was treated by the family as one of their own. When the daughter of the family became sick, Barry was sent to the nearest city for medicine. This trip took a couple of days, and when he returned the whole village was destroyed (I'll probably discuss with the DM how this happened, landslide/ attack/volcano/whatever fits in his world). Barry rushed to the house, but found it mostly destroyed. He started searching, and after a while found the family. Barry was devastated, but buried the family. Not knowing what to do, he remembers the library, and uses it to learn about his kind and begins tinkering, so he can some day recreate his family.

Any Class - Robo-bo One of the last Warforged created, Robo-bo was never used in the Last War. He wanders around the world, looking for a purpose.
Non-melee class - Robo-bo2 During the Last War Robo-bo2 fought on the frontlines. He was one of the best fighters, until he met his match. During a large battle Robo-bo2 was damaged, and couldn't use his strength anymore. Shortly after the battle the Last War ended. Years went by with Robo-bo2 not knowing what to do, until he discovered an affinity with magic.
Just Goodman - The setting of the campaign I'm in is a sort of magic-imbued steampunk kinda thing. Just is a backup character, a robot created by six mages in the Radiant Church to defend it and its city and fight off the monsters and eldritch beings that constantly plague it. The thing is the mages, in order to make him more approachable, enchanted him with an illusion, that, with the help of very talented sculptors and painters, makes his exterior nearly indistinguishable from that of a normal human. He's a backup character, a Monster Slayer (old UA) Fighter, who constantly spews the ideas of the Radiant Church (and is thus against Warlocks. we have two.), and dresses and acts like a puritan, essentially. The first time he gets hurt in battle and realizes he does not bleed like his brethren, and that he was created, etc. etc., I'm just going to give him an Existential Crisis arc which will hopefully pit him against the Church (enemies, in this campaign), and he'll have to learn how to be A Person from the rest of the party, which will surely turn out fine and not poorly at all. :)
Bob. Bob is one of the first warforged to ever be made. Bob... didn't do well. He was repaired. Bob... was thrown away. Bob was found by an artificer. Bob was fixed! Given to nomads because artificer owes them debt. Bob gets better at fighting and is now happy with the nomad family. Bob then goes off to explore the world with nomads blessing
My warforged is like a primitive version of a riot guard, he was shut down for 250 and then reawakened by himself and wandered in the ruins of the city, and basically beat up animals that 'broke' the law until he was found by gnomes and repaired and is acting like a guardian for them.
