My Aasimar Monk is currently attempting to woo our half-orc fighter. I'll let you know how that goes. Unfortunately, she's super inexperienced in the world and awkward. 😂 Hopefully he finds it endearing.
Too many to count lol. If I can remember a good one I’ll let you know.
Actually, I did post two detailed character stories that involve romance in Adohand’s Tavern, one in the Champions of Sedge Tavern thread and one in Tales of Adventurers’ Tavern. Feel free to read them if you guys want.
My characters’ names in the romance stories are Lyra and Talitha. Lyra’s love interest is Adrian and Talitha’s is Drusus. You can try doing a search for those names if you wanna read them.
My one character is a kender rogue named Talitha Darkeyes. When her party came to the League of Minotaurs she fell for Drusus (an NPC), a Minotaur senator’s son who became a cleric of Paladine (the god of good dragons) because he was disgusted by the corruption and greed of the Senate in the League of Minotaurs. He liked her back, but he was already engaged to a Minotaur fiancée, plus Talitha was too busy with her adventuring career to be tied down.
After Drusus helped Talitha and her party defeat an avatar of the evil god Hitehkel, he decided to stay behind and reform the League from within, but Talitha’s bff gave her an Ioun Stone so they could keep in touch telepathically. Oh, and Drusus used a ring of Alter Self (a family heirloom) to take the form of a human when they kissed.
Sorry. I have a lot to say about this subject lol (romance in gaming).
There was a 1 shot I saw where, after the party met the cultists, PC 1 liked NPC 1 who liked PC 5 who liked NPC 2 who liked PC 1. After the adventure was over, the four characters all ended up heartbroken when their individual love interests didn't reciprocate.
It was a hilarious comedy of errors because nobody took it seriously and everyone was involved. The loveless PCs tried to play matchmaker for the lovesick PCs and NPCs during the adventure, though facing a loosed demon in a cave really wasn't the best time for it - but it really was the best time because it was a riot.🤣

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.

There was another one where PC 1 fell hard at first sight for an NPC looking to buy a haunted home the players owned. The PC had to save the NPC's life from haunted paintings. Of course, the NPC ended up running away from the haunted mansion after oil-based vandalized wolves and a badly painted hunter tried to kill the NPC and players. So once again, the PC was left with a broken heart.
(The house really didn't want to be sold. The party already lost one potential buyer to a living attack dummy and carnivorous fireplace. A later one was lost to a mimic in a children's playroom. To be fair to the mansion, that last one was a misogynistic idiot. The wife took the children and ran.)

She's my first real character that isn't just a once-off. I am really enjoying her but I need to do a little more research on how to play her a little better. I'm enjoying it though!
I love reading these. I'm always looking for ideas and seeing what worked for other people. I am a new DM and my husband is doing his best to teach me.

My necromancer in my most recent game, Morrigan Devlin, had a romance with the party ranger, Hector Diversey, that was quite fun.
As a wizard, Morrigan was obviously quite intelligent, while Hector was... not. (I think his Int was 8 or 9.) Early on in the campaign, she viewed him with a kind of amused contempt - she was at times baffled by how dimwitted he was. However, he quickly impressed her with his bravery; several times he put himself in danger to save her life (to the point that it became a bit of a running joke for him to toss her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carry her away from battle). The fact that he looked like Keanu Reeves also helped. Eventually, when it was Hector who was in danger, Morrigan leapt to his rescue when normally, pragmatic as she is, she would not willingly put herself in harm's way.
They became the party's power couple and would flirt and bicker like an old married pair. At one point, when Morrigan was sucked into the realm of the dead, Hector killed himself in an attempt to bring her back. She got back of her own accord and was very exasperated to learn what he'd done - typical bullheaded Hector! She leaves him alone for ten minutes and look what happens. Fortunately, he rolled a Nat 20 to bluff the god of death and came back. When it came time for the epic final battle, Hector smacked her butt and said, "Don't die."
"You neither," she replied.
However, the battle went sideways, and the party found themselves trapped with the Big Bad on a collapsing plane. While they could ensure the Big Bad died when the plane collapsed, they'd be obliterated as well. Hector and Morrigan, remembering their promise to each other, tapped into the necrotic energy of two of the Big Bad's magical items and (combined with a Wish spell from Morrigan) managed to escape... but at a terrible cost. Now they are necrotic monsters who must feed on others - Morrigan on the magic essence of spellcasters, Hector on good ol' fashioned blood - and who haunt the very realm they fought to save.
Damn! Now THAT'S an epic D&D romance!
And that is the sort of bittersweet ending that builds lore...legends of how these two creatures of immense power came into existence, and the tragedy behind it.
A song for the bards to sing!
Agreed. That is an AMAZING D+D romance story!!!

Hi!!!! My pronouns are She/They!
Picture a halfling riding a flumph and be happy!!!!!
I played a very flirtatious sorcerer that had commitment issues. There was an infamous RP scene in the group where the sorcerer finally "broke up" with the cleric, who was completely unaware they were "together" which was hilarious for RP. Also, this sorcerer achieved that "seduce the BBEG" trophy and out seduced the succubus. :) We've now completed this campaign and the sorcerer is happily married with the rogue and sometimes the the old BBEG swings by to visit.
Edit! Thought of another one... In different campaign I used to play in, I played a Drow hexblade warlock that fell in love with a NPC. The NPC ended up becoming King (long story) and she was not very interested in publicly being Queen. She eventually left the party to become his personal body guard and a shadow ruler of sorts. She was only a temporary character so she was fun to play out.
In the current campaign I play in, the Character actually has a NPC ex in the backstory which is a BBEG. She is trying to learn how to trust and love again so who knows what the future will hold for her... But right now she is still not over the ex. :)
One of my favorite characters to have played as, a half-orc fighter named Sutha Fang, had her gender changed by the [REDACTED] in a pre-published campaign. So now she was a he.
Now, the other character in the relationship was a Tiefling warlock (being played by one of my friends) who had lost his boyfriend earlier in the campaign to massive fall damage.
Over the next few sessions our characters roleplayed some blush-filled conversations and there was an incident where due to [REDACTED] my character was unable to lie, thus admitting his affections for the Tiefling.
It would have been cute and some really good roleplaying, but then the campaign got put on indefinite hiatus due to the pandemic. I think this may be the first LGBTQ+ story on this thread, so that's a thing.

I had a basic romance story about Scarlet Winslow, High Elf- Rogue/SoulKnife, with her guild, a human paladin, Wood Elf Ranger, Drow Wizard, and Hobbit Wizard. Take this to note, this was my first ever time playing DnD so I was in very big shock when Lydia (Human Paladin) and Scarlet arrived at some tower seeking out an ancient artifact to trade for some money, but we weren't expecting to accidentally release a vampire knight who was imprisoned in his coffin for a long time. Me and my friend who was playing Lydia, rolled to see if anything happened to us and I failed the dice roll so Scarlet had a telepathic connection with the Vampire whose name is Galael.
What she heard was: "I will see you soon." Before leaving while I was freaking out and flustered while extremely confused (Never had any romance in the real world and no idea how to flirt) if I just got flirted by a vampire. The campaign continued where we had to defeat some lich who was trying to turn back time and we had a few encounters with Galael, where he saved us from a zombie dragon, killed a few gnolls, and failed to save Scarlet when she accidentally made a deal with a demon. To sum up everything, my guild managed to defeat the lich and Scarlet had to forever protect a village (That she set on fire, kidnapped the mayor's daughter, turned all villagers into mutants, and had several insane warriors killed for a blood ritual for their god, and then a dragon over to eat it) during that time, Galael and Scarlet had a bit of conflict.
Scarlet searched for the murder of her father who was killed on her eleventh birthday right in front of her. Her father was a retired Assassin hobbit known as Ander who found Scarlet as a baby in a basket by the river bank and raised her as his own before being killed by a cloaked figure with blood-red eyes on her birthday. Seeking out revenge, I didn't expect my DM to make Galael the culprit. Galael told the whole story about his master wishing her father dead even if it was against Galael's own will and left Scarlet alive, but his master had died ages ago. They had a little bonding moment right before Galael turned into dust after being hit by the Lich during the battle, where Scarlet reminded him of someone from his past. After defeating the lich and saving the entire world, Scarlet woke up one night and headed to the middle of the village to sit at the water fountain where Galael soon appeared and had a small conversation before dancing under the light of the moon. In last campaign I had, our DM (After lots of begging from the other players and me) made a wedding for Galael and Scarlet which turned out amazing and Scarlet's father spirit appeared to walk her down the altar. It was so beautiful and amazing, I even cried, but Scarlet remains married to Galael and I don't think they will part any time soon.
Ah Midas. A war forged with an ego large enough to fill a castle. A powerful gladiator with a body of gold and a heart of.... definitely not gold, it was a lot of fun to play an egocentric ******bag who SLOWLY views the party as equals. But! I bring him up, because at one point in the journey, the BBEG's little assistant (who was a bard of eloquence conman) was trying to get us to join him, and nearly won over Midas by making a clone of him, which he fell for instantly, taking this useless, illusory clone with him, mostly to compliment eachother.
The only other example I can think of is my profane soul blood hunter/Gloom stalker ranger Varrick, who's Feind (succubus esque) patron would endlessly flirt with him. He eventually allowed himself to really trust her, and falls head over heels.

In Princes of the Apocalypse there's a ... fire lady of some sort. I forget her name, and she may or may not match precisely what's in the book, my GM is prone to tailoring. But I have a tiefling in that game, and he's quite smitten with her.
Oh. Vanifer. I looked her up. I guess I shouldn't have, cause now I know that she's an elemental prophet. Oh well.
Anyways, my character is also a fiery tiefling guy - although he's really a bard - but he has every intention of persuading her away from her evil ways. He's sure he's making progress, but knowing my GM, I'm certain he's not.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
An NPC in my campaign, a nerdy, awkward wizard, ended up catching the attention of the quietest player at my table. Her characters backstory is that she was basically adopted by the king of the Seelie court. His backstory is that he was cursed by the Queen of the Seelie court and now works for the Unseelie Queen. Kind of a romeo and juliet situation with those two. Waring factions and all that. She helped him break his curse and the romance (That happened completely independant of any planning I did) ended up really helping her become more engaged at the table.
