Following on from the post I made here asking if a character that I had made was okay for Adventures League, I have now done a little write up for him as well. Looking at the character sheet and the little write up that I did for the character, what do you think about him? Does he look fun to play, and are there any changes that you would recommend? Everything that I have done so far is below.
He left home with his twin sister, Ying. Ying was supposed to marry the son of a chieftain from a neighbouring tribe. Everybody was excited about the wedding, not least because it would end a decade long war between the two tribes; however, before the wedding, Ying told Wu, that she did not love the man she was about to marry, and that the thought of him touching her, filled her with dread.
She confessed to him that she was not going to go through with the wedding and was instead going to run away.
Wu tried to persuade his sister from taking such drastic action but to no avail. Seeing that Ying was determined to go through with her plan, Wu decided to go with her, reasoning that they would have more chance of survival if there were two of them. Ying tried to talk her brother out of it, but he was just as stubborn as her, and secretly she was pleased that she would not be alone.
That night, the pair snuck out and headed off on their own. For months Wu and Ying avoided capture, living off whatever they could scrounge and any small animals that they could hunt, eventually crossing the border into Shou Lung, where they rested for a while, recovering their strength and gathering the supplies they would need to continue their journey.
Towards the end of that year, Wu and Ying secured work with a trader, travelling between Shou Lung and Waterdeep on the North coast of Faerûn. While they were en route, Ying found herself falling in love with the trader, and by the time their small party had reached Waterdeep, she knew that he was the one, so when he asked her to be his wife, she eagerly agreed.
The two were married not long after and opened up a small store together, selling spices and other exotic goods.
Wu worked for his sister and brother-in-law for a time, helping to set up the store and advertise it to potential patrons. Eventually, Ying fell pregnant with her first child, and Wu was beginning to feel like a third wheel. Also, as hard as it had been, he had enjoyed the journey from his home in the Endless Wastes, to the City of Splendors and was itching to be on the road again.
So not long after his niece was born, Wu joined up with a group of adventurers and set out to see more of the world.
Why is he adventuring now?
He wants to see more of the world with his own eyes.
Why did he become a Warlock?
After running away from home, Wu and Ying were almost captured on several occasions, by their tribe or tribes seeking their bounty. At some point, Wu made a pact with an Archdevil, for the power he needed to ensure the safety of his sister.
Unbeknownst to Wu, Ying also made a similar pact, for the power to protect her brother.
What are his ideals?
Material goods come and go, but the bonds of kinship last forever.
What are his bonds?
Wu regularly writes to and receives letters from his sister Ying. He also tries to send toys home for his niece; Mei, as often as he can.
What are his flaws?
Wu is a kind-hearted person who tries not to judge others unjustly, he can forgive many things, but he will never forget those who attempt to harm him or the ones he loves.
So that is it, that is the character that I have created and the write up I have done for him. I still have to write his backstory correctly, so if you have any suggestions how that, please feel free to share them, along with any criticisms and ideas for what I have created and written so far.
Very nice! I really enjoy all of the secrecy and looping ends that the DM could use for more plot hooks. Very creative and well thought out; well done!

Character Sheet:
Wu Yongzheng
From where does he hail?
Wu hails from The Hordelands of Taan.
Why did he leave home?
He left home with his twin sister, Ying. Ying was supposed to marry the son of a chieftain from a neighbouring tribe. Thanks, guys.

A caffeinated nerd who has played TTRPGs or a number of years and is very much a fantasy adventure geek.
