Is Maztica cannon in 5e?  is Laerakond (Returned Abeir)?

all I see officially is from SCG - that West of our known lands is mysterious and changes often 

but someone told me that Mazica was officially back, so I am assuming I would run into it first, travelling West, then Laerakond

Laerakond replaced Maztica during 4e (as part of the Spellplague), then things went back (i.e. Maztica replaced Laerakond ) during the Second Sundering.

So in 5e: Maztica is back, and Laerakond is in another dimension.

As written, it is as MattV describes.

Of course it matters if your DM is closely/loosely/cares about canon.  I'm sure that in someones game, it might not be so.
