So I am working an making a homebrew subrace for a character I am working on building for a campaign that a friend of mine will DM. The character is going to be the BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guy for those not familiar with the abbreviation), but will be tagging along with the party as a member. Essentially he'll be pulling the strings and using the party as a means of cutting the fat from the chaff of his tropes as well as a means of getting rid of his competition on his quest for total domination. The character I want to make as a mixed Elf (Drow and either High or Sun Elf) for the purposes of his backstory and character build. I want to the his subrace called Iblith (Drow for filth and non-Drow) as a means of outlining him as an outcast in the Underdark. Basically his mother was a surface Elf and was kidnapped during one of the Drow raids on the surface. She was taken into slavery under a house and at one point is raped and bared a son. He was brought up more to be canon-fodder but trained himself and eventually escaped. He basically planned to build a "Utpoia" on the surface only to have the entire thing collapse and burn. I want to know what others think about doing a subrace for my character or if there is a way to build it here on the site.
I love the narrative you have here. That's super cool. If your adventure takes place in Faerun, your BBEG would probably make friends with Jarlaxle somewhere along the way. :)
The system takes some learning to, well, learn, so it might be a bit before you can figure out how to successfully port your homebrew subrace onto the website for use in character builder. But. You can definitely make it on paper for now.
Save yourself the pain of having to gruel in front of a computer, making a Sub-race you may or may not use more than once. You could just roleplay that all within the character builder, hence it seems as by popular opinion via the votes.
Is this for a single character for yourself? If so, I highly doubt it's worth creating a homebrew subrace.
If it's for creating a whole new race of individuals, how different are the traits from the standard Drow, how important are these differences (assuming they don't OP the subrace), and are there explanations for the differences (as the more common lore establishes that Drow physical traits dominate all other Elf traits in mixed breeds)?
In the latter situation of creating a whole subrace and not just a single character, it will be up to you whether you think it's worth the effort.

Human. Male. Possibly. Don't be a divider. My characters' backgrounds are written like instruction manuals rather than stories. My opinion and preferences don't mean you're wrong. I am 99.7603% convinced that the digital dice are messing with me. I roll high when nobody's looking and low when anyone else can see.🎲 “It's a bit early to be thinking about an epitaph. No?” will be my epitaph.

And yes, there's a way to create a homebrew subrace on here. Go to this link: https://www.dndbeyond.com/homebrew/creations/create-race

Two things:
