My party are going to have to defeat 3 covens of hags (not all at the same time), and I want to give them a special magic item each. They would have to go out and gather the parts (2-4 parts, not too hard to get), then bring them back to craft them. I have a question: what monsters' parts should be included? Or other ingredients? Thanks a lot.
Sorry. The weapons are: a quarterstaff, greataxe, scimitar and rapier. I think the talon of a giant owl works for the scimitar. And the adventurers will be levels 5,6 and possibly 7. So no beholders.

Ok. I was thinking of what magic you wanted them to have. If you're talking just +whatever, you could have them get the heart of a 100 year old tree (both for the staff and shaft of the great axe) and a special metal (perhaps mithral or adamantium, or make something up, like prismatic steel, mined by the so and so tribe).
If you want more flavor, to refine and forge the maze and scimitar, maybe they need to be worked on under a full moon or quenched in their blood of a magic user (requiring healing say 40 hp to keep them alive and get the volume).

It would depend on the item. What does it do? Some sort of anti magic sword might need an eye of the beholder.
