I plan to create a neutral good human paladin character and need some suggestions for his background data.
He's a folk hero of a woodland town at age 25's. He's a strong built readheaded guy. He had some problems with a tyrant at his homelands, fighted for his folks and gained respect for his efforts then he left home for some unknown reasons.(this ll progress in the campaign) Because of his homeland geography and social society he have some survival and smithing skills. He is a fair play guy who thinks everybody deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. He protects weak and stands against any tyrant anywhere. Somehow he is an unorthodox paladin because he has no committed faction-diety-faith. All i can say is he's a wild life and nature believer. As he is a paladin of course he must be trained somewhere and i would be glad to hear your suggestions about his training background and faction-diety interactions before. Lastly i prefer a mid to eastern faerun location for his homelands and i don't have much experience and data about those sides of the continent.
I would appreciate any location and training background suggestions for my beloved paladin character.
I don't feel that your assumption that he has to have had training at all is correct. You could easily justify this guy's paladinhood as a result of faith in his convictions and his weapon training as just skills picked up while partaking in a small rebellion against his previous homeland's tyrant. As for a homeland location, anywhere in the four countries on the southern end of the Sea of Falling Stars would probably be good; so Nathlan, Turmish, Akanul, Chessenia.

That's nice! I thought that you need to be trained somewhere to be a paladin class before, so that makes this process easier for me. Just forget about training background and leave it to your hometown tyrant encounters.. i like it. About the location suggestions, i only know about Turmish (lands that Emerald Enclave was born impressed me because of nature relations) but not totally sold on to it because of it's heavily elf and dwarf population. (Still in the mix) I ll search for your other suggestions, thank you mate :)
At the other hand i really like to give a diety-faith like background info for my char, even if it's only an influence. I started to search for the lores, locations and history of Fearun after i opened this thread and had some ideas in my mind. Strongest one is Chauntea the Great Mother. She's one of the first gods of Faerun and even root of the living in Abeir-Toril. Maybe worship to Chauntea suits the character, i'm not sure. Next one is The Emerald Enclave that i mentioned before. They believe in nature, balance but i can't find any indications to paladin society. İ really appreciate if smo shares their opinion about The Emerald Enclave and Chauntea.
probably if hes kinda naturey he can: maybe he can unknowingly fight for a nature god if needed, keep the old balance between nature and humans issue, or have some nature friends, druids , rangers and such. if you want to add in the training factor, there is training stuff in the DMG and something like that in the downtime in unearthed arcana
i personally wouldnt worry about training, as hacking and slashing bad/good guys gives enough training if pally survives fights (he knows and discovers what works and what deosnt with on the job training)
the most unnatural he would combat i would guess would be undead, their presence is against the natural order always undead being created by someone, a tyrant, for some unknown reason to be discovered
thats all i got without more info :I
So tyrant encounters for my training background is approved. My Chauntea idea seems workable with your "maybe he can unknowingly fight for a nature god if needed, keep the old balance between nature and humans issue" I even have no clue about this unearthed arcane thing so will read and maybe discuss it later mate. Undeads! Actually my idea of a nature loving paladin influenced by undeads partly, so isn't it a nice issue? :)
Thank you for your suggestions and hope to hear more...

There is so much awesome stuff on Wizards D&D website's Unearthed Arcana. Once you start reading some of the builds you won't want to stop lol

Thay has lots of possibilities here, from Tyrants and Slavery, to Undead and Rioting. From out of this torrential kingdom, might a hero of the people, a man of the land, rise?
