Howdy,i'm creating this thread in hopes of getting logical motives for specific demonlords that i wanted as a patron and then from the answers choose what would fit best my overall desire. Btween grazzt, demogoregon and orcus
1. Why would graz'zt would make a pact with a male drow or any guy for that matter (as it is said,he prefers women overall due to his lusts),what would be a motive for him to reaching out to average ******* evil drow and making a pact with him? Would he seek someone for a spark of potential they bear?
2.why would demogorgon make a pact with any silly humanoid? Normally the prince of demons does pacts because crazy cultists seek him out, but why would he seek any normal guy out? Would he seek someone for a spark of potential they bear?
3.why orcus, the demonlord of the undead, mr.ibloodyhatethefactyouarebreathing seek out anyone? Like demogorgon normally dudes seek him out to become undead or gain necromantic powers, but why would he seek anyone else out? Would he even see you of any note?
And finally the last question: if i want for my character to end up gaining the favor of a demonlord and become a demonic servant underhim, who would be most likely to do it? I personally doubt it would be orcus as he HATES everyone even his own dudes, even the undead?
I really want to make a character that rises to the position of a powerful general of a demon army or a high demon serving a demon lord, like an underdog story where a little guy that has noting climbs his way to the top and earns the boon of his demonic master
So.. could you help this little cultist out and help him out?
Would really be appricated
P.s- i also posted this same thread on the warlock thread as i was not sure which local would fit this theme of questions more, thank you!
1. Graz'zt is not fond of Lolth. Lolth is not fond of males, so Graz'zt might do it to cause issues with the Lolthian hierarchy.
2. Demogorgon has enemies. Having a warlock agent to deal with his enemies agents makes sense.
3. Orcus also has enemies and he wants them /all/ dead. Why not use a warlock that he wants dead eventually to kill as many of his enemies as possible on the way out? Low risk, high reward. It's possible that he seeks out the warlock because of the warlock's unique position to do something that Orcus wants done. Assuming its the same drow from the Graz'zt example from 1, perhaps to steal a necromantic tome from Sorcere.
My money's on Graz'zt. He's a smooth operator who's willing to use the tools he has. Demogorgon would be my second choice. You only need one of the heads to decide to give you power. Maybe one or both of your parents is a member of the cult of Shami-Amourae (https://ghwiki.greyparticle.com/index.php/Shami-Amourae) and you can take them out from the inside.
Orcus? Last pick. That dude's whacked; I got nothing to help a little cultist out for him.
Any time an unfathomably powerful entity sweeps in and offers godlike rewards in return for just a few teensy favors, it’s a scam. Unless it’s me. I’d never lie to you, reader dearest.

I think Mordekainens tome of foes would suit you if you wanna learn about demon lords but still, I would probably still want more information on the demon lords motives, I'll tell you the demon lords motives.
Demogorgon- Because The Demogorgon is always paranoid about being betrayed or insulted his main goal is to empty the Universe of everything including his cultists.
Baphomet- His goal is to make everyone to embrace their bestial urges and dispose of the weak, Baphomets saying is "The strong shall rule over the weak"
Fraz-urb'luu- Fraz-Urb-luu's goal is a little similar to Asmodeus's goal, Fraz-Urb'luu believes he is the smartest being in the Universe and the Universe would be in better hands with him as it's leader.
Graz'zt- Graz'zt believes he will someday become the master of the Universe, he will kill anyone who doesn't worship and praise him and spare those that do differently.
Juilblex- Juiblex doesn't really have a complex goal except to devour everything in the cosmo's and turn the world into his own ooze-infested wasteland.
Orcus- Orcus believes if everyone was turned into the Undead there would be no more need for war's because everyone would answer to him and him only, Orcus finds the spirit of the living disgusting and intolerant.
Yeenoghu- Yeenoghu wants everyone to spread bloodshed and slaughter and kill everything they come across.
Zuggtmoy- Many view Zuggtmoy to be completely alien and her goal is to spread her spores to every living and breathing being in the Universe.
In my opinion, the goal of every demon is to become the only meaningful creature in existence. Either they literally want to kill everything else, absorb everything else, or subordinate everything else. They’re smart, they can defer gratification and execute complex plans, but they’re raging balls of pure id. With two exceptions.
Demogorgon, by its very nature, is the first true demon to ever have a second thought about anything. Its schizoid mind makes it capable of actual self-reflection, which it hates beyond mortal endurance, but which gives it the insight that makes it Prince of Demons. It could seek you out, but sooner or later would come to view you as a potential threat.
Graz’zt used to be a devil, which means he used to be an angel. He’s fickle and a betrayer, and frankly, a starf***er. I’m not sure you want to hitch your wagon to him. But he has enough Law in him still to recognize talent and reward loyalty. The longer he stays in the Abyss, the more its ethos will corrupt him, but being who he is, he’s due to switch sides again any century now. Maybe he’ll end up King of the Slaads, with you as his right hand.

If ANY name-brand, ©️WOTC ®️demon lord actually seeks out a warlock instead of being sought out, it means that that being either is in or will be in a position to help them or a position to help their rivals and they want to deny their rival that opportunity.

This is my reasoning, as well.
