Hello. I'm a new to involving myself into D&D. But been watching streams for awhile now, even before that when I was little, I've watched my oldest brother play D&D games and roleplayed (even games on console). Myself, I've roleplayed for 14+ years now and I actually have an elf character I want to re-create for D&D means. Think of it as a divergence? Well, concerning his background, I am having trouble thinking of a beast that ended up following him back home? I thought of a few, and the village / farmstead is near a forest, so thinking forest based beasts? I made some options and then some different-possible twist story kind? Those more experienced who would most likely BE in the forest. Apologies, I lack the monster's manual atm and I'm new to the site.
This creature will be responsible of the death of his human parents that adopted him. His background on his sheet is still a work in progress but you can get the idea of where I'm going with this.

"The heart is an arrow. It demands aim to land true."
A Worg, Dire Wolf, or even Winter Wolf would probably be acceptable. If you wanted to be a little more off-beat, a Displacer Beast would make for a fine monster to have terrorized a small farming community near a forested area.
Love the idea of Worg, take it home as an adorable little puppy. Parents let you keep it thinking its a normal dog. . .And then it grows . . . and grows . . . and grows . . . and one day While you are out on some kind of trip the dog gets hungry. Your parents forget to feed it. Worg feeds itself.
You show up back home to a wagging tail a happy bark as your worg lovingly drops the gnawed shin bone of your mother at your feet to share. You look thin and hungry too it thinks.

A werewolf sounds fun. "Mommy, he followed me home. Can we keep him?"
