When I got caught up with Silver and Steel I started looking at the other games Beyond and on YouTube. Is there any sort of guide I could find somewhere tied to these series? I’m trying to figure out what all streams there are, what order they’re in, who the cast is, when the edition switched, what the classes are, what the settings are, and so on.
If there is one could someone aim me at it? The wiki I found seemed sorta lacking in information.
Hi Geasell! I've actually begun putting together a post that has all of our livestream information on it, including details about both Silver and Steel and Beyond Heroes, and that should go up very soon!
To help in the short term, both shows use 5e D&D rules with a LOT of homebrew. Silver and Steel is a homebrew world created by Jasmie, while Beyond Heroes bounces around through many planes.
Here's the cast list for Silver and Steel:
The cast of Silver and Steel, most characters are level 4 while Avren is level 3:
Avren - Human Armorer Artificer played by Todd Kenreck, who is the Creative Manager for D&D Beyond as well as the host and DM for many D&D Beyond shows.
Sofieus - Elf Alchemist Artificer played by Meagan Kenreck, who is a twitch streamer, WotC freelancer, and professional photoshopper with her own Patreon.
Freely - Halfling Bard/Paladin/Divine Soul Sorcerer/Hexblade Warlock played by B. Dave Walters, who is a writer and storyteller on a variety of shows and has his own Patreon.
Cally Zaffrab - Warforged Soulknife Rogue played by Lauren Urban, who is the Community Manager for D&D Beyond as well as a prolific DM and player on a variety of shows, as well as a professional classical musician.
I see a lot of the same characters in the various streams and am trying to figure out if there is an order to the videos to watch. A timeline or if it is just all mixed together with the same characters at different levels to match the particular game?
With Beyond Heroes we have tried to have "chapters" so that there are times that are good for new people to jump in without having to watch the whole series from the beginning. For example our Wildemount chapter is an excellent place to start as we reintroduce the characters and start a new adventure. The main characters throughout all the Beyond Heroes/Heroes of the Vale are Keen, Alyndra, Penelope, Briv, and Orkira. Avren started as a character, and when Todd took over DMing he became a recurring NPC and plot device.
Also as we have more and more crossover games with other D&D shows, we are growing a large family of guests and our main cast have had experiences on OTHER shows!
If you are interested in the "historical" order of things:
Heroes of the Vale Chapter 1 (the first two shows had a slightly different cast and DM. Ep 3 is where Todd takes over as DM and Jen is added, and that's our main cast) Heroes of the Vale Chapter 2 (I was a guest on the D&D show D4 as Orkira during this chapter, so between two episodes Orkira teleports away and returns. B Dave joins as a guest for several episodes, including the last few episodes of this chapter) Beyond Heroes Ep 1-9 (B Dave is now a regular cast member, each of these episodes are plane hopping one shots) Beyond Heroes Wildemount Ep 1-17 (A bunch of connected adventures all in the world of Wildemount in Exandria. Ep 11 B Dave leaves this show to join Silver and Steel) Beyond Heroes Theros Ep 1-4 (A short adventure in Theros, including a guest appearance by Tanya DePass playing her Rivals of Waterdeep character, and TJ plays in a one shot charity game with other characters) Beyond Heroes Icewind Dale Ep 1 The Red Storm - This game wraps up the Theros adventure, has Ethan as Harold from D4 as a guest, and by the end transports the party to the Sword Coast)
Silver and Steel is a bit more simple because we're only 10 episodes in! The world is a homebrew world and the adventure there is self contained to that story, but three of the characters are drawn from Beyond Heroes. Freely and Avren came over from Beyond Heroes mostly directly, Sofieus is Avren's wife and was an NPC in Beyond Heroes.
