We started Dungeon of the Mad Mage after playing through Waterdeep: Dragon Heist, and I thought I'd record it and post it online. When I was doing my own research, I found a few Youtube playthroughs that quit early on (like the Roll20 Presents one). I obviously am hoping our game won't be that way, and I thought I'd post it in case it is helpful to others. I'm using the Mad Mage Companion by Wyatt Trull from dmsguild as well as the encounter builder here on dndbeyond.

The party is faced with a choice - continue to explore Level 2 or move on into Level 3 ahead of schedule? Halaster, the Mad Mage, also makes an "appearance!"

We have a new player joining us - Wendune, the Dwarf Artificer! We're excited for the new opportunities for gameplay having a 3rd player is going to open up for the group.
After arriving in Skullport last session, the party enters the Flagon & Dragon tavern and meet up with the Harper agent, Cal'al. She introduces the group to Wendune and assigns them the dangerous task of "Awakening the Flameskulls of Skullport" to help in their fight against the Xanathar Guild's tyranny!
The party concludes their quest for the Blood of a Netherse and contemplate the next steps in the Harpers' wish to awaken the Flameskulls of Skullport and oust the Xanathar Guild from power.
Unfortunately, the latest recording didn't record properly, but it was a great session. The group managed to follow some Drow ambushers into one of the Mad Mage's magical gates that sent them from Level 3 down to Level 5's Wyllowwood level, into the home of Wyllow the Mistress of the realm. The Drow were killed by Wyllow out of sight, but within earshot so the party attempted to hide. Halastree was sent upstairs to see if there were any more intruders and the party decided to reveal themselves and explain how they were in pursuit of the Drow. Halastree took them to have an audience with Wyllow, convinced of their story.
The meeting with Wyllow went well, the varied races of the party (dwarf, dragonborn, half-orc, and half-elf) surprising her with their courtesy. The party, still wanting to get back to Level 3 to rescue some comrades from the Drow, asked if they could return back to Wyllowwood with Wyllow's blessing, which they did receive.
Returning through the gate to Level 3, they made camp and we ended the session.
This session has the party continuing up the Sargauth River of Level 3, searching for the Cheeky Pluckers, the friendly adventuring party who sent them a distress call a few sessions ago. To see more details of what was missing, check out the video description at the above link!
Episode 17! The party continues deeper into Drow territory on Level 3 of Undermountain. Many forks in the road with several choices that truly change the outcome of events!
Session 18 is out! A bit of a hiatus between sessions due to family trips and such. This episode sees through the climactic battle with the Drow of House Auvryndar on Level 3 of Undermountain. It was a long battle, so I edited down the little bit of rule look-ups or idle chatter to take a 3 hour battle down to about 1 and a half! Feel free to let me know if you'd rather have those sort of "between turns" moments included.
Session 19! The group decides to travel down to visit Wyllow again on Level 5 and explore a bit more than their brief visit a few sessions before. They also give themselves a name: The Guild of Trollskull.
Technical Difficulties! I moved between this and last session and my recording equipment was not set up correctly! Only the DM's voice was recorded - nothing from the players or the background sounds. So, I decided, instead of not uploading this session, I'd add sub-titles to convey, in general, what the players said and did and added some background ambiance in post. I hope to have the next session set up correctly when we return after the holidays. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
