I’m playing a Hobgoblin Iron Wizard who went to Necromancy route after some crazy events in our campaign. Indeed, having just +4 to hit is a pain, but my skeletons are providing an amazing protection to the entire group. Whether giving us cover, whether taking the attack in place of someone else.

Yeah, technically you can just keep raising your army and using your spell slots to maintain it, rather than casting. Let the skellies make all the attack rolls instead of yourself :)
