This title says it all. I need a character to round out a party of; a dwarf barba, a fairy (ua) rogue and a dragonborn paladin. I know we need some more magic, since currently we have just the half caster. I would "prefer" to not have to play a bard, since the last campaign we played I was a bard. A wizard sounds fun, but honestly feels like too much magic. Thanks in advance!

I'd recommend wizard all the way since ritual casting's so darn useful, and it makes finding enemy spellbooks or magic scrolls into a more emotionally pleasing moment.
Otherwise, divine soul sorc is a good option cause then you got those cool spells and casting ability while having access to a healing spell.
Thanks for the ideas everyone! Our fairy rogue has decided to become an elf cleric (life), and so now I have to be something else (sigh). Sorry for the inconvenience

If you want a mage but a wizard sounds like too much magic then perhaps a warlock. Only having a small spell list with limited slots but of high power can make an great glass canon. Lots of cool Patron choices, invocations to pick and a different play style to the other mages.
Consider a mid-range class, as your party members are all melee classes. If you're long-ranged and squishy, you'll get mobbed by enemies that come from behind; if you're also pure melee, there will be problems with choke points like doorways. If you're near the Paladin you'll get his aura; and the Life Cleric can heal best if you're nearby. Way of the Astral Self Monk might be an interesting fit: Dex based compared to the Str builds, you get a reach on your unarmed attacks to fight over your allies' shoulders, and if you take the Urchin background you can fill some of the roles of a Rogue.
Artificer would also be a good option, to fill out the support and Intelligence roles. Also get thieves tools.
Sutlo you're the best. I'm happy that's the direction this thread went. I personally can't stand the "fill a roll" mentality if someone gets stuck with it. If you like creating a character in that dynamic cool, but being forced into a certain subsection of rolls because you happen to be the last one picking a class is asinine. Everyone should have the freedom to play whatever character inspires them the most.
Arcana clerics are super underrated. Healing is lacking in the party as the Paladin will be using slots for smites. You are also lacking arcane casting which the Arcana cleric does decently. A bard would be a close second, but you already have a charisma based class and could use a wisdom based.
Hey guys, since my party is very 'lets help people', I hate to say it needs some...

So I was listening to some League tracks, specifically Gwen and Viego's. I have decided to create a character like Viego, but not overly 'love, f**k u all, love is all that matters'. I'm thinking reborn, maybe half elf or teifling, rogue, bard or warlock? Here's his backstory; https://universe.leagueoflegends.com/en_GB/story/champion/viego/ (not using this, just a bit of inspiration). Thanks everyone for your help.

Just knowing thew class and race of the other players means we have to make assumptions of their build.
While we can be fairly certain the Paladin and Barb will be melee a life cleric can be either melee or distance. While there is no need for any of of the others to have high intelligebce they might have for role play reasons. (I joined a party when looking at the classes of the others I thought they a tank and someone good at intelligence checks so picked an armorer artificer only to find the warlock and the cleric both had high int).
The Paladin should be able to act as the face and the cleric for wisdom skills it looks as if you could do with a high int characters if none of the others are (not just for arcana but investigate is another highly used skill and most compaigns are helped a lot by someone good at at least some of religion, history and nature)
If if the cleric is ranged you are probably better off being ranged, and as said utility could come in handy.
The following would then fit the bill:
Artificer: Any subclass would fit, though I think Armorers are better choosing guardian armor and being melee
Wizard: Pretty much any class except bladesinger (melee), early on you might find yourselves limited using spell slots for most utility
Rogue: Great utility, easy to play ranged and very SAD so you can buff up int easily. With high Int Arcane trickster is the obvious choice but any subclass will work well with the possible exception of swashbuckler where you really want to invest in charisma as a secondary stat)
For me I think every party needs the following: Close combat, Ranged, Utility (In addition, parties do as you mentioned, do better with some kind of magic user, some kind of healer, and some one focused on Armor, but this could however be all filled by a single Cleric.)
You definitely have a Close Combat - both the Paladin and the Barbarian likely do that. Your rogue may or not may not be ranged or utility. He could fit either way or both, depending on his build. But chances are he does not do both of that really well. So you probably need more Utility and more Ranged.
The Paladin can do the healing and the armor, but as you mentioned, you probably need some more magic to go with the Utility and Ranged.
Besides Bard, you can play a Cleric, a Warlock/Sorceror with healing focus, Artificer, or a Druid. Any of those classes can help round out the party significantly.
The typical Warlock with healing is the Celestial. The typical Sorceror with healing is a Good Divine Soul. Cleric, Bard and Artificer come with Healing. All you really need to do is to make sure that in addition to the healing you get a few Utility abilities and at least one ranged attack.
When thinking about what role you need to fill for the party, think of it in terms of what Primary Ability Score is no one maining, not what class should I pick.
In this particular party, you have the barbarian covering strength for athletics type stuff, the paladin covering strength and maybe charisma too, and a cleric covering wisdom. So the two obvious choices are to cover dexterity and be the sneaky guy/ lockpicker / pickpocket for the party or play the intellectual role that tries to squeeze lore out of the DM for the party.
This could take the form of a rogue, ranger, or dex fighter or a wizard or artificer, respectively.
Arcana clerics are super underrated. Healing is lacking in the party as the Paladin will be using slots for smites. You are also lacking arcane casting which the Arcana cleric does decently. A bard would be a close second, but you already have a charisma based class and could use a wisdom based.
I had a game with the Arcana Cleric in our party, he was a cleric of Zygig and told us he was a wizard, he didn't cast a healing spell until we were like 8th level to avoid tpk. Since we didn't know we had a healer, the party was much more cautious. His 'homoculus' was an animated skeleton in a suit of armor.

Cleric for buffing/healing etc., should work well in that setup.

Order Domain Clerric + Rogue= extra sneak attack outside of the rogues turn
Grave Domain Clerric +Paladin=double damage on a smite+dive smite once per short rest (or on a sneak attack from the rogue)

With the rogue gone you may want to look into utility: Artificer, Druid, Ranger, Rogue, (Bard)
You seem to be in a position where you could just take whatever class you'd like. Like, building a charakter you'd like playing.
I agree with Sutlo, with Barbar/Paladin/Cleric as set base, everything goes with that.

Since I have no idea, I will take the advice from Sutlo and pick anything. Time to scan through a book for pictures!

Thanks for the help everyone, I am now playing a RabbitFolk Rogue, who will go into arcane trickster or thief.
