there’s no size limitation on the targets, so it could be all kind of entry ways.
“You touch a closed door, window, gate, chest, or other entryway, and it becomes locked for the duration.”
Could be used on all sorts of enclosures. Paranoid wizard could cast arcane lock on all their potions cause they think people are stealing sips while they aren’t looking. Could be used on the gigantic gate doors leading into a castle or city.
it’s casting time if an action means it could even be used mid battle to try and by time in closed spaces.
I could see an artificer casting it on all kinds of things and putting passwords on the doors to help maintain their job security. People very often loose their tempers very quickly when things break, perhaps even resorting to the use of profane language. Maybe the password is “please” lol.
Arcane Lock in battle is awesome. Two orcs just opened the steel door into your room and started an ambush, and there are more coming? Free action close the door and Arcane Lock it. Instantly make a hard encounter into two easy ones. 🙂

Amazing - and then you open the door again and, if one of your party has a battlefield control capability like thunderwave, you could attempt to clear the doorway to close it again. :'D
At DM's discretion, it might also be possible for an artificer to rig up a closure for an "entryway" and use arcane lock to seal that closure in place. A forge cleric or a character with a portable hole, some materials and appropriate tool proficiency might be able to produce a stopper. I like the idea of producing a portcullis type lattice that you can shoot through.
Find a possibly regularly used security type door and cast Arcane Lock on it specifying select individuals to be able to open it.
Come back later with the door open or either the door or some of the users smashed up.
I think this would work.
Maybe. Arcane lock has quite a few uses.

This is why we need Starjammer. Because nothing beats an Arcane Locked airlock and the vacuum of space.
