I'm running a 2 Pally/2 Hexblade in Phandelver and Below. He's running heavy armor, shield, spear, and Polearm Master. I am going to go straight to Warlock 5 for Thirsting Blade, and then go 7 in Pally for the Conquest aura. His main strategy is Booming Blade for his attacks so he isn't set back by missing extra attack by two levels. I want to take Warcaster at Warlock 4 to hit extra booming blades in his reaction, but he only has a 17 in CHA, and wouldn't get an ASI till Pally 4/Warlock 5. It is partially offset by Improved Pact Weapon, but I don't know if it would be more beneficial to get Warcaster first or take a half feat like Fey Touched and get that nice round 18 CHA. It is OK though, because we have been leveling very slow and probably will take a while to get to Warlock 4.
Is there a particular reason you want to go Warlock 5 first as opposed to Paladin 7 (or even 8 for the extra ASI) first? Leveling Paladin first still gives you Extra Attack and would get you to the Conquest Aura faster than having to go through Warlock 5 first.
I think boosting your CHA to 18 will be more useful than Warcaster. Especially if you're taking something like Fey Touched, which is super useful. Although I always encourage players consider Skill Expert... it can really help define your character to have expertise in something. It lets you feel like you really are the best of the best at whatever you think should be the thing that your character is best at. Expertise in Persuasion is amazing if you want to use your high CHA to assert yourself as the face of the party.

I crunched some numbers, and the Warlock route gives me higher level spells and more dps, while also getting me Improved Pact Weapon Faster.
