Hi everyone, I'm a complete beginner at any kind of roleplay but me and a few friends are interested in trying some fantasy oriented one.
An online version would be simpler for us I think. I've already checked Roll20 and D&D Beyond though but I'm struggling with the "campaign" part, im looking for something simple to begin with, maybe an adventure ready to play with only the characters to prepare if that exist https://100001****/https://1921681254.mx/?
I have almost no idea about how D&D works but its the kind of universe that interest me. I know that you gotta create your character sheet, have a game master, roll dices and buy expensive books to get the stories xd.
Any help, tips, recommendations for roleplay beginners is welcome.
Since you mentioned the virtual table, if you buy Lost Mine of Phandelsver on Roll20, you will have the complete adventure including all maps, monsters tokens, NPCs, magic items as well as the text for the city of Phandalin and the adventure encounters.
I’ll add you don’t have to buy any books to get the stories. Just make one up of your own. Books can be and often are a good idea for someone new, to help you get the feel of things, but for decades the game existed under the assumption that every group would just invent their own story, and that’s still an option.
I would suggest buying the players handbook, as that has the rules for how to play. But first, you might check out the basic rules here on dndbeyond, which are free. They give you enough to be sure you’re interested before you make any financial commitment.
DDB also has forums for players looking for a game. Perhaps that would be the way to go. Find an experienced DM who wants to run a campaign and your gang joins in using DDB to create and track characters. That way you can all learn to play and get the feel of it.
