Hey gonna be playing a beast barbarian reflavored to be more vampiric. I think this idea works well. Was wondering if you guys would either choose the shifter race or damphir.
I would go for Dhampir over shifter. I think it's more appropriate thematically, but also it plays more easily with Barbarian. Shifters need to use a bonus action to trigger their shifts, but it also takes a bonus action to trigger your Barbarian Rage. It also pairs fairly well with your 6th level Beast Barbarian feature, which can give you a lesser spider-climb, but since you always have Spider Climb active it opens you up to combining it with the jump boost or the swim speed. You also don't need to breathe as a Dhampir, so even if you don't take the swim speed feature you can still survive underwater in case you don't get a short rest to prep for a situation that dunks you in the drink.
