Just curious as to what your favorite spell combos are? Basically thinking outside the box to use spells in the RAW context in new and unique ways. I've been a player/DM since the 80's and played everything from original D&D, AD&D 1, AD&D 2e, skipped everything between AD&D 2e and 5e, and now 5e. A lot of stuff has changed across the years and I'm interested to hear your spellcasting innovations.
I'll start...
5e, Sorceror - Poor Man's Fireball: Quickened Web spell followed by the Firebolt cantrip. (1d10 + 2d4)
5e, Warlock - Get Over Here: Cloud of Daggers then EB with Grasp of Hadar or Repelling Blast invocation to pull/push enemies into the cloud. (1d10 + 4d4). Also pairs well with Agonizing blast for a good damage buff.

steel wind strike( 115 avg damage vs 5 targets) is comparable in damage to an upcast fireball (126 avg damage vs 5 targets). Its harder to impose disadvantage on a group of enemies saves than it is for the caster to grant themselves advantage on all attack rolls. steel wind strike with advantage is a considerable increase in expected damage at 160 avg damage vs 5 targets, 181 average damage with elven accuracy feat. also, since you're invisible, you can choose any target to teleport to reposition to and usually be able to move away without getting opportunity attacked.
attacking neutrally with steel wind strike while being affected by the bless spell also pushes the spell past fireball at 136 average damage vs 5 targets.
At higher levels, we used to cast Passwall on the ground in front of charging enemies to trap them (Dex save to avoid...very difficult for heavily armored opponents) then cast prismatic horizontally over that, then drop the passwall and eject the contents directly thru the Prismatic Wall. Nasty.
They ruined that combo in 5e rules due to the addition of the "safely ejected" clause.

Blanket disclaimer: I only ever state opinion. But I can sound terribly dogmatic - so if you feel I'm trying to tell you what to think, I'm really not, I swear. I'm telling you what I think, that's all.
Not really a spell combo but Armor of Agathys upcast used along with the clockwork sorcerer's Bastion of Law ability.
Cast AoA at like 4th or 5th level and it deals around 20 damage every time you get hit, and BoL mitigate the damage so you don't lose your temp hp and can keep the Armor up longer. And when BoL wears off, you just convert your next highest spell slot to sorcery points and put it back up.
My melee Clockwork Soul is the only character I've ever played where negative dex was ascertain actually an asset haha

Well not really a spell combo but the other night as we were sneaking up on a group of druids who were trying to harm the villages for having built in their area my Gloom stalker cast Silence on an arrow, the bard, and cleric also cast silence on an arrow for me. 1st round with initative on my side I spread the 3 arrows out amongst the 11 druids. Round two added entangle to their situation. They couldn't move, couldnt cast any spells with verbal.
The DM thought we would try and sneak by them since they had 11 casters and should have been able to defeat us. I often use silence on an arrow and it allows me to nuetralize casters.
Exactly - when you think about it, what other spell combo's do you really need? =)

RAW you can't cast Silence on an object in 5e. So technically you are using this wrong. However, of course, if the DM is allowing it - well that's his choice. So good on you.
So last night we were trying to escape a cult's temple after stealing an artifact from them, and as they were chasing us through a corridor I cast Web to show them down, and on the next turn a Tidal Wave to knock the webbed guards prone, stopping them in their tracks for another turn, long enough for us to get free and clear.
Pretty good combo for when you're making a quick getaway

The spell discription does not say you can not cast on an object, just that your choose a point. I'd love to see where you read it can not.
Precast Telekinesis beforehand and have it active. Make sure you have the Cartomancer feat. When engaging a powerful target/BBEG, use your action to Restrain the target. Then use your bonus action to cast Prismatic Wall within 5 feet of him. Move your foe 5 feet through the wall, forcing 7 saving throws. The first five are Dex save, so he'll have disadvantage because he's restrained. That's 50d6 damage, plus a Petrify and Plane Shift save. If target is still alive and present, move them 5 feet back through the wall the way they came. Lather, Rinse, Repeat for up to 30 feet of movement. That's 6 times through the wall, 42 different saving throws, 300d6 damage, 6 chances at Petrification process starting or progressing, 6 chances at being planeshifted. Barring tons of resistances and immunities and fantastic saves, I can't see anything surviving this.
I have a basic low-level combo, I cast Grease spell on the ground to trap enemies then I use Create Bonfire to light the grease on fire. I think that since 1 of the components for the spell is pork rind, the grease produced is flammable. Which means I can make a 60ft area into a giant bonfire. My DM considered this a fire pit from the DMG meaning each creature in it takes 2d8 fire damage. It's pretty good at low level since you can do this at level 1. Definitely not as strong as some others here.
I've seen one used by the Outside Xtra guys. There was a little rule of cool happening, because it made it quite funny, but it comboed Grease and Spike Growth in a confined space to create what they called "Merilwen's meat grinder"
They cast Grease at the entrance of a chapel/church and further down the aisle, they then cast Spike Growth. The guards would come running into the chapel/church, through the grease and go sliding into and through the spike growth, grinding them down as they went.

greater invisibility+steel wind strike.

Does Fireball+Fireball+Fireball count?

3 Fireballs does not count but Delayed Fireball+Fireball does. LOL

I found it. That's sad. Takes the creativity out of a spell but is not per RAW as you suggeted.
