moving this from another collection of threads, I’m making a new Warlock character that was born a sorcerer but lost control of his magic abilities and his patron helped him, but part of his raw magic is still present in his hands, and I intend to make him a melee fighter that uses buffing spells and boxes, so should I take sorcerer for subclass or something like fighter or monk?
Multiclassing Warlock & Monk would be super MAD, so I'd advise against it. The major problem you will run into is how to get Extra Attack, you really need Extra Attack ASAP to be an effective melee martial character. The only way that Warlock can get Extra Attack is via Pact of the Blade & Thirsting Blade invocation which only applies to your Pact Weapon so you'd need to get DM approval to make your fists your Pact Weapon.
Next problem is getting a decent damage die for your fists since RAW they only do damage equal to your strength modifier. You're best option there is the Unarmed Fighting Style, which means dipping Fighter-1. Personally I'd suggest starting out Fighter then MCing to Warlock, because that will also get you Heavy Armour proficiency which you'll need since you need to boost your STR for attacks & wrestling, and have a decent CHA for spellcasting plus a decent CON to survive with only a d8 hit die, which doesn't leave much open for DEX for AC. Plus you get proficiency in CON save which is great for maintaining the concentration buff spells.
So Fighter-1 + Warlock-X, though now we have the issue that you want to concentrate on buff spells, and Warlocks don't get a lot of those. Since your CHA won't be that great you'll be relying on Hex and Armour of Agathys mostly for combat, maybe also snag Misty Step or other teleporation spells, and at higher levels Greater Invisibility. It's workable, but you won't have a ton of options. I'd recommend ArchFey or Hexblade as patrons as they add some good and much needed buff spells to the warlock spell list.
I don't know if your dead set on using fighter or monk, but there is also barbarian. They have a subclass Path of Wild Magic they might work for the character. But that's the only class I can think of other then sorcerer that has something wild magic themed eventually. Also, Path of Wild Magic is from Tasha's Couldren of Everything.
