My one-shot group ran into two beholders for our finale. On one hand, I felt like I should have saw them coming and have had Crown of Stars ready, but if they had stared at me with their magic field, would that have just made them disappear? I never really found out since we ran out of time.
i basically ran diagonally to the side until i was out of range of the anti-magic fields, cast CoS and hit it with a star for a sad 13 damage. If I had the stars prepared I could have done an eldritch blast with a star as my bonus action. I dodged the disintegrating beam with a 17/16 but was hit by a levitating beam and was stuck back in the field, so all I could do then was fire my crossbow with disadvantage. That’s when we had to stop.
What would you all have done differently, if anything, from my actions or build?
Oh! It’s suppressed. I thought it vanished outright!
Okay, so I was being levitated at the end of the encounter. Would I have had to fire my mote with disadvantage? I realize i was back in the field, but I’m just speaking hypothetically. I’ve never ran into such an encounter before and want to better understand what was happening to me.

The spell would have been suppressed while you were in the anti-magic field. So if you left the field you would have your remaining motes.
