I joined a new campaign that is allowing any class/species on Beyond 2014. Got to roll 3 stat blocks and the 2nd block was like a dream come true two 18's, two 15's, two 9's so playing a Blood Hunter Ghost Slayer works(Really any class works). I had intended to go strength based but party of five has two Barbarians, a Blade Singer Wizard. So I switched to Dex and archer to at least to give us a way to hit casters and or the Big Bad creater early in the fight.
My real question is on Blood Curses: What experiances have you had with them. Do I take one that is bonus action or one that is a reaction. Which are most effective?
Thank you. Should I switch to a hand crossbow over the long bow for that extra attack?
Yup, unless in your campaign you find you need the range of a longbow, I'd swap to a HandXbow.
I switched to Crossbow expert and get to start with on +1 weapon so took Hand. I also purchased a Heavy Crossbow for rare instances where 450 range could help. I'll probably take Sharpshooter at 8th. Thanks for the advice.
Take the Crossbow Expert feat and Blood Curses that are a reaction. Bloodhunter super benefits from more attacks you can make per round.
So I’m going blood hunter till level 5 or level 8(hate missing out or delaying feats/CSI choices). Would Ranger, Fighter or maybe rogue/ assassin be a better choice in your opinion?

Ranger is actually too similar to BH for MCing a lot of its features conflict in terms of action economy with BH, so it's not really worth it. Fighter is good, so is Rogue.

Thank you. I think the BH will be fun to roleplay but always looking for a little extra DPS. We dont have a rogue so might add Assasin for a little before going back to BH. Appreciate the advice since this is my first BH
