I'm not typically a min/maxer, but my group is doing a level 10 Curse of Strahd one shot just to do something between campaigns. That being said, what is the best character build to take on a vampire and it's cohorts? I'd think paladin, cleric or some multiclass combo since they can turn undead, smite, and all that. Also, maybe ranger with a favored enemy of undead? I haven't tried the classes with the 2024 rules yet so maybe they're now more or less effective than I think. With as many subclasses and feats as there are now, I imagine they're are a number of potential potent builds for this context. Of course, it's also limited to level 10. Lmk what your thoughts are. I'd hate to walk into it with something that's completely uneffective.
At first glance, I would suggest Vengeance Paladin 6/Divine Soul Sorcerer 6. It will give you some great stuff from both classes - Extra Attack, Oath of Emnity, Aura of Protection, and Divine Smite from Vengeance Paladin; faster spell slot scaling, nice Cleric spells like Healing Word and Spirit Guardians, and Metamagics.

Not possible for a level ten character.
Personally, I'd just go with a 10th level aasimar paladin.

"Canon" is what's factual to D&D lore. "Cannon" is what you're going to be shot with if you keep getting the word wrong.
Can't go wrong with an aasimar paladin! I'd specifically recommend the Oath of Devotion or the Oath of Vengeance subclasses for a 2014 Paladin, or the Oath of the Ancients or Oath of Vengeance for a 2024 Paladin.
Grave Clerics, Necromancy Wizards, and Undying Warlocks are designed to be good at fighting undead creatures like vampires.
If you want the character to have a more aggressive and damage-dealing role in the party, a Divine Soul Sorcerer or Light Domain Cleric can dish out some serious radiant damage, which is very helpful for vampire hunting. Speaking of, the True Strike cantrip would be very helpful for radiant damage as well (the 2024 version of it, at least).
Hi! I am Potato66807. I am an experienced player and Dungeon Master using 2014 5th edition D&D, and I'm learning my way around 2024 5th edition. I am always happy to help with D&D issues for both players and DMs alike!
I spend my time writing stories, singing, playing games, baking literally anything, and being annoyed at people for messing up my pronouns. They/them can't possibly be that hard to remember...
