Divine Student Themed Build?

Hi All, I'm starting a new campaign soon and was looking to play a character who was basically trained by a "divine" being. Not actually a god (though maybe?) but some higher planer entity to act as their champion in the mortal world as they can't directly interfere. 

I'm looking to DBZ Supreme Kai for a little inspiration (seriously I'm not building an anime character point blank), but like the idea of him being a strong martial with some magic support mixed in.

So what would you suggest? I was originally thinking pure monk warrior of elements for all the martial powers, reflavor the elemental abilities as divine energy. Or maybe a dip into Cleric? Or maybe even a Bladesinger for the melee and magic options?

 2014 or 2024? blade singer is a good idea simply because you can have 10+dex+wis+int as your AC. combo that with deflect attacks and shield and you will be a force to be reckoned with.

Many options:

• Paladin -> the classic class for the divine warrior.
• Zealot Barbarian -> strongly divine-coded and amongst the most powerful martial characters in the game.
• Valor Bard -> with the upgrade to their Extra Attack in 2024 these guys are fully competitive as martials and can easily be flavoured as divinely inspired rather than musical / artistic.
• Celestial Patron Warlock -> this is the definitive "I was trained by a celestial non-god being" archetype, can be built to be a decent martial with True Strike and Pact of the Blade but is much more limited in choices than the others.
• If your DM will allow you to import 2014 subclasses into 2024, then Sun Soul Monk is your go-to if you want to focus on unarmed strikes rather than weapons.
