So, Contingency is Self-Only, and a level 6 spell. That rules out things like Ring of Spell Storing, and also Scrolls, since Contingency is NOT a Ranger spell. I do not want to multiclass 1 level of Wizard.
I have access to a Hireling, that CAN cast Contingency if I want one, but obviously it is only on themselves. Or another Hireling of equivalent to about 14 or 15th level. So, how do I get Contingency cast on my character that normally can not have Contingency cast upon me?
What possibly convoluted ways am I not thinking about?
Could a level 14 Genie Warlock hireling NPC use the Limited Wish feature to request Contingency be cast on my PC?
Brewing Potion of Contingency?
Crafting Wand of Contingency? Limited to 4th level spells by raw.
Maelfa's Quickened Class? (Grim Hollow: Player's Guide) So, my ranger obviously doesn't have a 6th level Spell Slot. HOWEVER. As long as the spell is on my spell list, I can then cast it from a Scroll. So If my hireling casts Maelfa's Quickened Class, on me, imparting knowledge of Contingency, and I then use a Contingency spell scroll? That sounds like it could work?
I don’t think the genie warlock would work. My reasoning for this is that you request the effect of a 6th or lower level spell, with no mention of modifying its effects, meaning it would still be self and affect the warlock that casted it RAW.
I think the potion of contingency is one's best plan.
The only way I can think of that would get you access to Contingency would be for you to somehow gain the ability to cast Wish to duplicate the spells effects. Could you maybe beg/bribe/grovel to your DM for a Luck Blade?
yes, wish would work BUT....Luck Blade / Ring of Wishes are limited, and we are power gamers and I want daily Contingency Haste for a long-running campaign. Although...that does give me an idea.
I just need someone good at writing wishes...with a monkeys paw involved.
Is there a reason you're particularly attached to Contingency? It doesn't remove the concentration requirement for spells so it's not significantly better than just getting access to bonus action haste, which can be done in several ways.
Playing 2014 5E Other than chucking a potion of speed/haste which competes with my desire to activate Fighting Spirit on turn 1 before making all my attacks, none of my allies can cast it on me. (or have chosen not to while they do their own things or concentrate on other spells.)
I don't have anything else to concentrate on as a higher level (16) Gloom Stalker - Phantom - Samurai. The +2 AC and the Extra Attack/Action will be quite helpful to me more than most other things. I can't have a Hireling just cast haste on me due to a rule in the campaign that forces all hirelings to flee when init is rolled (to reduce combat clog, and try to reduce min-maxing with hirelings.) So I have to be creative with a way to get Haste (the DM's has agreed to consider my ideas to do so.)

Now, will my DM allow that? Who knows. He's usually pretty fair about 3rd party content in his campaign, since he bought the book.

My DM says no potion option.
He's running the Maelfa's Quickened Class spell option past the co-dm. But my odds look ....bad.
The other option is finding ways to extend a Haste spell...somehow to most of the day...?
Technically possible with Circle Magic, though it would take a lot of people (and a lot of spell slots) to make that happen.
