Unless I am missing something a Bladesinger must fight with only one weapn and no shield or the Blade Dance will not work? Was this changed in 2024?
Bladesong only works with one-handed weapons, but there's nothing in either version saying you can't use two one-handed weapons.
Neither version of the Bladesinger is allowed to use a shield while Bladesinging, but I don't think anyone in this thread has suggested that.
You're wrong about blade song with one-handed weapons. Blade song does not work with two-handed weapons, but a versatile weapon is fine as long as you don't wield it into hands.
Such character at my table couldn't pull this off for many reasons, Quick Draw can draw or stow, not both, Extra Attack of the Light Property is made with Nick weapon, Mistletoe requires a hand free to access etc.
What could be done while equipped with a Quarterstaff & Shortsword is;
Attack with Shortsword and unequip it [Attack Action]
Equip Scimitar [Free Object Interaction]
Attack with Scimitar and unequip it [Nick Mastery]
Cast True Strike and attack with Quaterstaff [Extra Attack]
Cast Shillelagh OR Attack with Quarterstaff [Bonus Action]
That seems fair. Ultimately that's the goal, right? Four attacks per round (excepting the first round to cast shillelaghif it wasn't able to be precast)

One small problem with this idea. The use of Shillelagh is problematic because the spell ends if you let go of the weapon. As soon as you put away the staff to start this sequence again, the spell would end.

In the above sequence the Quarterstaff is always wielded while the other hand does weapon swapping.
