I hope this isn’t the incorrect place for my question.
I’m preparing a character for a level 20 campaign and I need some advice. I know that I want to do a Bladesinger, but I don’t know if I should bother with the Warlock part. So the current build is an Eladrin Bladesinger 14/ Archfey Bladelock 6
I’m picking Archfey for the benefit of the additional 6th lvl Fey Step. But I thought that the Warlock levels would benefit me with the use of the Thirsting Blade, Eldritch Smite and Armor of Shadows invocations and at 6th level Warlocks have 2 3rd level spell slots. The idea is at the start of combat to use a familiar with a ring or spell storing to give me haste and use my first turn to active Armor of Shadows.
With two blade songs a short rest and 2 3rd level slots I can use those slots to charge the ring with the expended Hastes, this way I always have Haste with Bladesong is active.
I’ll also have a scimitar of speed. All of this giving me 5 melee attacks in a round.
Is there something I’m over looking? Or am I wasting my time with the Warlock levels?
IMHO you are gimping your character. A 20th level Bladesingler is still a 20th level wizard (that is realllly hard to hit) with free castings of your signature spells (2x 3rd level) and your spell mastery spells (I.E. Free shield). I'm sure someone will come up with a great combo for flavor but I certainly don't think it will over come the power of 9th level spells.
I agree with gamma you trust trading higher spell to cast/spellslot for lower spell slot. You lose lvl 8/9 the spells and more higher level spellslots while the lvl 18/20 wizard feat basicly give you same extra spell slots as warlock unless the DM allow you to do short rest withouth a limit per day.
+1 studded leather = perm mage armor since it high level campaing your probably find higher enchanted armor surpassing mage armor. thirsting blade and extra attack does not stack so you only get 2 attack per Attack action not 3. Source Eldritch smite has one nasty condition and that is it can only use warlock slots not like the palasin smite who can use any class slots. So at best you can only smit 2 per short rest if you not using those slots for anything else.
Eldritch Smite Once per turn when you hit a creature with your pact weapon, you can expend a warlock spell slot to deal an extra 1d8 force damage to the target, plus another 1d8 per level of the spell slot, and you can knock the target prone if it is Huge or smaller.
Fey step ability is nice but it not worth what you lose in wizards levels.
2 extra level 3 slots that recharge on short rests
A smite
Well:
Level 18 wizards can choose a level 1 and 2 spell to cast without slots. Infinite misty steps.
If you can get a +1 or higher light armor, it's as good or better than mage armor. Plus level 18 wizard can cast shield every turn.
Thirsting blade doesn't stack with the blade singer's extra attack, so...
A level 20 wizard can choose 2 level 3 spells to cast once each per short rest, plus with 6 extra levels of wizard, your arcane recovery will restore 6 more levels of slots on a short rest.
2 levels paladin is a MUCH better investment for this than warlock. Can use wizard slots for smite, gains access to healing spells, get a fighting style (dueling), get all martial weapon proficiencies (just in case), and a few more niche abilities.
And any arcane caster who passes up the chance to get wish messed up.
Hi! Thanks for coming to my humble post

Nox - Adult Oblex - The Trials
Jartrin Ephok - Dragonborn - Zanoliv
Bunol - Grim Angel - The Floating Lands of Goriate
Going to have to agree with everyone else, you are giving up so much more than you are gaining.
You wanted to take 6 levels warlock for:
Well:
And any arcane caster who passes up the chance to get wish messed up.
I recommend the 18 bladesinger wizard/2 paladin.
