I'm playing a rogue (lvl 5) in my campaign, multiclassed with Trickery cleric (lvl 2). I'm about to reach lvl 8, and I don't really know what to do :
I love my "religious" rogue, very Role Play oriented. If I follow this background, I'd like to take a priest lvl (Trickery domain, lvl 3). It would give me access to lvl 2 spells, and they seem so great to improve the Role Play.
But I'm afraid to become useless, because my rogue lvl are not that good and I feel like my Sneak Attack will probably become useless.
What should I do ? Do you think it's ok to add a third lvl in cleric, or I should just spam my rogue lvls ? (Campaign will probably end at lvl 17).
Thanks a lot !

As long as at least half your levels are rogue levels, sneak attack not be useless. I say take the cleric level, level 2 spells are big jump in power (what roguish archetype are you?).
Next decide what you want your final multiclass ratio to be and plan around that.
My opinion is that for a total level of 17 you'll want a Rouge 9/Cleric 8 split. This will give you Cloak of Shadows, Divine Smite, 4th level spells, 5d6 Sneak Attack, Evasion, second Expertise, and 9th rogue level archetype feature. If you get to 20th level you'll probably want a Rouge 11/Cleric 9 split.
Of course this all depends on what roles you are fulfilling in your group. If your using skills more, your next level should be Rogue, so you can get the second Expertise. If your using spells more, your next level should be Cleric, so you can get 2nd level spells.
To DxJxC : I'm playing Scout Rogue (living in the wild :p).
To SladeTracey : I'm the talking guy, but my spells help me a lot to do this (Charm person, disguise... and lvl 2 spells if I chose it : Zone of Truth).
Well you all seem ok to take more cleric lvls, so I think I'll take it ! :D Thank you for the help !

Spiritual Weapon is one of the strongest level 2 cleric spells. If you already use your bonus actions often then this specific level 2 cleric spell is less useful; however, you do get Enhance Ability and Locate Object which can be really useful for the Rogue. Mirror Image from trickery domain though is pure gold and lets the rogue be in the thick of melee longer getting more sneak attacks giving it the leg up. This might give it the leg up to level 6 Rogue for me since the dice roll for the image to get hit instead is set (i.e. higher CR enemy doesn’t get a better chance to hit you instead of the image).
