im playing in a descent into avernus campaign and here is my question with this campaign in particular. i am a gnome wizard (int18). i get a free feat or an extra ASI. wondering if i should go ahead and get my INT to 20 or take something like elemental adept for fire or maybe lucky feat. this campaign spends alot of time in hell so im wondering if elemental adept is worth it i can see alot of devils/demons and stuff will have resistance or immunity to fire?
There's definitely a lot of fire resistance when facing against devils/demons, but honestly if you can start the game with a solid 20 int it will make a big deal. Remember that for a Wizard INT isn't just what you use for attacks and such, but also determines how many spells you can prepare each day.
Yes, 6 spells at level 1. But resistances are kind of all over the board... the most commonly resisted by demons/devils is usually fire and necrotic, but it's not a universal rule

I would go the extra Int. And that gives you more ways to prepare and adapt as needed since more spells known.
just wanted to thank everyone so much for the help! i have decided to go with 20 INT then at levels 4 and 8 ill take lucky(since im going with the school of divination it fits thematically i think) & warcaster

Most devils are immune to fire, not just resistant. Elemental Adept doesn't bypass immunity. Go with the 20 int.
Take the INT and pick up a 50gp diamond so you can cast chromatic orb. :)
